Cream Puffs
popular dish
(by Martha Neeb)
Our last meeting was held
on Monday, November 1, at
Mrs. Neeb's home. Minutes
were read and approved.
Mrs. Neeb led the discussion
on butter and cream. We
sampled some cream puffs that
Mrs. Neeb had made before
the meeting, first with cheese
and mayonnaise, then with
sour cream over onion soup mix,
and lastly with whipped cream
and banana pudding.
They all tasted delicious,
The meeting adjourned at 8 p.n
A woman was helping her
crippled -up, middle-aged hus-
band into the doctor's office
when a sympathetic patient in-
quired, "Arthritis with complic-
ations?"
"No, " replied the wife, "Do-
it-youself with concrete blocks!
Hides good for
hand—warmer
As mentioned in an earlier
release the Department of Lands
and Forests this year is giving
away to hunters who turn in
deer and moose hides, a pocket
size handwarmer. The hand -
warmers are stamped "Compli-
ments of the Department of
Lands and Fprests.
In past years most hunters
have simply discarded deer and
moose hides once the hunt is
over and the butchering comp-
lete. All this was happening
at a time when hides have been
very much in demand by re-
mote northern Indian settlements
Through an agreement with the
Federal Government the Depart-
ment of Lands and Forests is
attempting to collect as many
hides as possible, have them
tanned and given to various
Indian bands, The hides end
up as beautiful works of handi-
craft from the talented native
craftsmen.
In return for one complete
hide (in quarter pieces is satis-
factory) the hunter can pick
up his handwarmer. At the
same time he will find it heart-
warming to do this service to
help some northern Indian
people.
The collection point in Lake
Huron District where hides may
be deposited is Wingham Divis-
ion, Point Farms Provincial
Park, 4 miles north of Goderich.
KAY - WALKER
Reverend Donald Beck offic-
iated at a ceremony in Hensall
United Church on October 9,
which united in marriage Bon-
nie Marie Kay and Grant Edward
Walker. Parents of the young
couple are Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Kay, London and Mr. and
Mrs. George Walker, Hensall,
Mrs. John Turkheim played
the wedding music on the
organ and accompanied the
soloist, Gary Scholl, London.
The bride was escorted down
the aisle by her father and wore
a gown of white lagoda, an
empire style with Victorian
neckline, A-line skirt and
Juliette sleeves. It was trimmed
with Swiss lace and pearls. The
bridal costume was cori-rpleted
by a soft draping chapel length
train and a Spanish mantilla.
Her bouquet was of yellow roses.
Her attendants were Rose
Hattot, Nancy Kay, Ruth Ever -
dell, Port Hope and Kathy Munn.
They wore dresses of gold net
over white peau de soi and
carried yellow roses and white
carnations.
Richard Buchanan was best
man while Ralph Logan, Craig
Chapman and Murray Walker
ushered the guests.
Plenty of
rocks at jail
"We've got rocks for sale, "
quipped Warden Jack Alexand-
er during last Friday's session
of Huron County Council,
Warden Alexander was ref-
erring to the announcement of
the property committee that
the walls of the two exercise
yards on the northwest side of
the Huron County jail are being
torn down and the area made
into a parking lot for the
Children's Aid Society,
Approval has been received
from the provincial govern-
ment to proceed with this work.
