HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1971-10-28, Page 15PAGE 16 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS FAMILY GATHERING - Sunday saw a special event take place at the Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, when friends and members of families of residents at the home had an opportunity to visit the place and enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with them. Five members of Mrs. Bertha Hayter's family attended the event with their mother, and are shown in this photo taken at the home. DASIIW000 and DISTRICT NEWS Correspondent: Mrs. Ervin Rader Mrs. Edwin :Miller and Mrs. Bob Hayter are patients in St. Joseph Hospital, London where they underwent surgery. Mrs. Della Tomlinson returned home Saturday following surgery. Mrs. Milford Merrier is also a patient. The Lutheran Laymen's League of the Stratford Zone held their fall rally at Zion Lutheran Church, Saturday, October 24. The guest speaker Mr. Bruce Bjorkquist spoke on Christian Living in today's world. The election of officers followed. Group II of the Ladies Aid, with.\lrs. Ernest Koehler convener, served a turkey supper. Five ladies from Zion Luth- eran Church, Miss Helen Nad- iger, Mrs. Marie Restelnayer, Mrs. Albert Miller, Mrs. Mel- vin Stade and Mrs. Bill Becker attended the Mitchell Zone Lutheran Women's Missionary League Fall Rally at Sieback's 1 -sill, Monday evening. Guest speakers were Mr. and Mrs. Horst Schulz, Niagara Falls, who with their two teen-age children, leave on November for a five year period in New Guinea as Bible translators, Mrs. Walkom gave a report of the Kentucky convention. Mr. and Mrs. Robert \tiller and Miss Janet i' Iillcr, of Waterloo spent Sunday with Air, and Mrs. Albert Miller. 4-11 PARTY The Dashwood No. 4-11 Homemaking Club held a supper party in the basement of Calvary t'niteci Church, Iionday, October 25. Mothers and friends were invited and the basement was decorated with a Hallowe'en theme. A smorgasbord dinner was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Lloyd 13caver was in charge of the entertainment. Prizes at l3unco were won by Mrs. Anna Van Wycle and Donna Dictvek. \Irs, Ella Zenietis and Judy Guy were low. Mrs. Gordon Bender reminded the girls to hand in their record books by November 3, and in- vited the mothers to attend. Achievement Day, November 13 will be at Zurich. Mr. and \irs. Cliff Salmon and Mr, and Mrs. Irvin Rader attended the annual Fall Conf- Children's Aid honor parents (by Shirley J. Keller) Last .Wednesday evening's Huron County foster parents banquet sponsored by the Child- ren's Aid Society was a depart- ure from the normal annual banquets which have been held in years gone by. The event, held at Clinton's Ontario Street United Church, featured a sit-down dinner for all the foster parents in the county, the CAS workers and some special friends, including Judge and firs. Head table guests included Mayor and Mrs. Don Symons, Clinton; CAS President, Clar- ence Hanna and Mrs. Hanna; CAS Director, Bruce Heath and Mrs. Beath; Huron County Warden Jack Alexander and Mrs, erence of the Ontario Municipal Electric Association where Irvin received his 15 years serv- ice plaque.
