Golden Glimpses .. . • BLUE WATER REST HOME Another balmy week has passed and according to some of my notes, we were enjoying the same lovely autumn weath- er last year at this time. On Monday evening films were shown, "Adventure in Newfoundland" and Aerial Odyssey, the latter being a picture of Newfoundland, life and its surroundings there. Following the films, refresh- ments were served in the dining room. I might mention that our films reserved for Monday even- ing, November 1, will be "Children of the Mountains, " a 13 -minute film, "Four ways to Milford, " a 23 minute film and "Christmas, a time of Happiness for City Children, " a 13 minute film. We invite you and your family to come and enjoy these films with the Residents. On Tuesday evening, the children of the Gospel Hall, Grand Bend, entertained the residents to an evening of music and song. We are pleased that they care enough to give up an evening for the residents here. On Wednesday afternoon, the Ladies Auxiliary chartered a bus to take the residents out on a sight seeing tour. There were 26 residents out for the ride which took them around to Dashwood, over to Grand Bend and through the Pinery to view the lovely autumn scenery. We are grateful to the Auxiliary for their generosity. On Friday evening, bingo was enjoyed followed by ref - Serving every money need Whether you want to borrow, save or invest—safe keep your valuables—set up a retirement or an investment fund—appoint a reliable executor for your estate or an agent to handle funds—Victoria and Grey offers you every range of service, backed by eighty years of successful experience. We wish to thank all of the generous people in the surround- ing area for their donations of squash, flowers, tomatoes and any other donations which we ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS' have received. If anyone has an abundance of Chinese Lanterns, Mrs. Siebert would appreciate donations of some to make centre pieces for the residents dining -room tables. On Sunday, we officially celebrated a family Thanks- giving dinner Here at the home. One hundred and seventy-one guests beside the residents sat down to a smorgasbord dinner of turkey and ham with all the trimmings, as only Mrs. Horn could prepare. We know it gave many of our residents a great lift to be able to sit down to a table surrounded by their family. We are indebted to Auxiliary members, Mrs. Thelma Thiel, Miss Mildred Gingerich, Miss Verda Baech- ler, Mrs. Martha Blackwell, Mrs. Cleve Gingerich and Mrs. Steven Gingerich for their assist- ance in the dining -room and kitchen for the afternoon. We also want to thank John Warner, Grand Bend, for providing din- ner music on his electric organ all through the dinner hour. Many of us enjoyed his organ music at the strawberry festival as well and we are indebted to him. We are still working on our fund raising project to buy a small bus, and will be having a Christmas draw to help this project along. Next time you I are in the Home, ask at the office or tuck -shop for a ticket on the quilt which was made by the residents, second and third prize will be an electric tea kettle and half a dozen steak knives. I understand the Ladies Aux - THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1971 diary will also be selling tick- ets on a beautiful hand -made afghan made and donated by Mrs. Bessie Currie, St, Marys. Ask them for tickets. I believe their draw will be made at their annual bazaar to be held at the Horne on Saturday, Nov- ember 20. Please keep this date in mind. The Sunday evening chapel service was conducted by Rev. Paul Packman, Brucefield Unit- ed Church, accompanied by some of his choir members. This was Rev. Packrnan's first visit to take charge of the Chap- el service. I am sure our residents will be looking forward to the goblins visiting on-Hallow'een night and will be prepared to shell out.
