Mr. Gordon Turnbull, of the Sauble Line, returned home from the west on Monday, and is having an auction sale of his farm stock and implements. Ili.. and Mrs. Turnbull intend on moving into Grand Bend, having rented their farm to Mr. Charles Lafromboise. George T. Mickle recently installed a 20 horse electric motor in his oat mill at Hensall. The machinery in this mill has been running by steam for many years, but is now beins turned over by hydro. The large bank barn and contents of grain, belonging to William Fairbairn, of Tucker - smith Township, was destroyed by fire last Wednesday night, with the loss set at $6, 000. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ohlert, of Detroit left on Saturday for their former home in Detroit, after spending some time in Zurich where Mr. Ohlert was manager of the Hall -Dent factory, as well as being a valuable mem- ber of the baseball team. 40 Years Ago Miss Katheryn Merner who is attending London Normal school spent the weekend under the parental roof. Professor and Mrs. Klassen of Waterloo, were weekend guests at the home of Rev. and Mrs, E. Turkheim, Prof. Klassen delivered two very inspiring sermons in the Luth- eran church on Sunday. The manse of Wesley -Willis Church, Clinton, was the set- ting for the wedding of Miss Marjorie Blanche Carter and Wesley Ervine McBride, of Stanley Township. The couple will reside on the groom's farm in Stanley Township. Miss Stella Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rose, of Zurich, in improving nicely after having an appendix oper- ation in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Another big program of wrestling is booked for tonight, Thursday evening at the local Arena and sponsored by the Zurich Lions Club. Mrs. George Hess, of Hensall who was a patient at Victoria Hospital, London, having undergone a major operation, returned to her hone on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gascho and daughter Martha have moved into their home which they purchased some time ago from Dr. G. St. Pierre, located in the westerly part of the village on Main Street. Congratulations go to Airs. Doris Nicholls, daughter of airs. Fred 1\icEwen, Bayfield. She was the only woman in five upon whom the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy was con- ferred at Convocation at the University of Western Ontario. .1 Ye; rs Ago According to Ron Mock, proprietor of the Hurondale Dairy in kiensall and Zurich, there is no need for concern about the safety of fresh milk for human consumption due to fall -out from nuclear explosions being carried out by the Soviet Union. Don Spearman, who for the past two years has been operat- ing a printing business in the village of Hensall, moved his equipment to Dresden on Mon- day, where he plans to continue in the commercial printing bus- iness. Mrs; Lauretta Weido, of Zurich, has been picking ripe raspberries from her patch for the past few weeks. The berries, which are quite tasty, have been in abundant supply. The first steel bridge in Hay Township was moved into posit- ion this week, when a 72 -foot structure the council purchased from the County of Waterloo was moved to it's new location, on the sideroad between con- cessions five and six. 0 Hickory trees only grow in Canada along the Lower Great Lakes ..and St. Law- rence River. At Huronview The Salvation Army Band of Goderich and Wingham visit- ed lluronview on Sunday after- noon and played a concert in the auditorium. The Huronview Women's Auxiliary met in the craft room on Monday to finalize plans for the annual bazaar to be held in the auditorium on Wednesday, November 10 at 2 p.m. Twenty-five residents cele- brating birthdays in October were honoured at a party on Wednesday. Birthday gifts and cake were supplied by the Londesboro Women's Institute who were not able to attend as a result of an accident in their community. Slides were shown that have been taken of several events at Huronview during the year along with musical numb- ers by the Huronview Orchestra and a vocal duet by Jan Bylama and Alice Roorda accompanied on the piano by Jake Roorda. Volunteers from the Beta Sigma Phi and Women's Auxiliary assisted with the party. Representatives of the CNIB met with members of the staff and several residents with vis- ual problems on Thursday and arrangements were made to have Mill Philpott, and instruct- or with CNIB, visit Huronview each month.
