BLUE WATER REST HOME Since the lovely autumn weather continues, and Jack Frost has not really bothered us a; yet, our flowers are bloom- ing in profusion. We have re- ceived many nice compliments concerning our lovely flowers, and the credit really should go to our maintenance man, Mr. Amos Gingerich. We are thank- ful for the donations of tomatoes melons, pumpkins, snow apples, and other vegetables as well as the lovely bouquets of glad- ioli. Perhaps many of us while preparing a menu should add the following recipe to our daily diet. First pour in kindness, wisdom cheer, Good fellowship and trust; Then blend in patience, cour- age and A viewpoint that is just: A pinch of wit and merriment Completes this loving snack, I know you will enjoy it, For many of these things we , lack! Monday evening films were shown. The first one was a Nova Scotia travel films, and the second was one of figure skating. You are welcome to come and enjoy these films. We wish to thank our visitors las. week who left us a donation to help defray expenses on the film rentals. On Wednesday evening, the Ladies Auxiliary met for their regular monthly meeting. A program was presented for the enjoyment of the residents as well as the Auxiliary members, followed by a delicious lunch. The business meeting followed Blue Water Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ducharme of the Bayfield area returned home after spending 3 weeks in British Columbia and other Western Provinces, motoring with daughter and son-in-law. On the way back, they visited with two nephews. Mr. John Donald holidayed in St, Marys with his daughter, Mrs. Neads, Mrs. Mary Faist is spending this week with her son in Waterloo. The Sunday evening chapel service was conducted by Rev. George Anderson of the Exeter Anglican Church. 0 Zurich UCW entertain guests Mrs. Laird Jacobe presided fou the October meeting of the Zurich United Church Women, which was held on Thursday, October 6, at 8 p.m. The church was appropriately decor- ated for Thanksgiving. The Dash- wood United Church Women, and the Crediton United Church Women were guests for the evening. After some opening remarks , Hymn "Come You Thankful People" was sung. Mrs. Irene Consitt led in prayer. Misses Pat Bender and Susan Grigg played several duets on their accordians. Mrs. Newell Geiger read a poem for Thanks- giving. The offering was received by Mrs, Len Merrier. Mrs. Hilton Truemner, followed by prayer. Mrs. Bill Fuss and firs. Kenneth Breakey rendered two duets entitled "Sweet Peace" and "lvly God and T. " Mrs. Laird tacobe presented the topic on "Socialism and Federalism" as connected with Quebec and surrounding prov- inces. This was concluded with prayer. Mrs. Bullock invited everyone to the basement for recreation and refreshments. A pleasant social hour was spent. 0 Abouf Pe pie You Know ... Mrs. Cec- ilia Farwell react a poem "Harvest." Mrs. Gertrude Fleischauer played rhe piano for a sing- song, which included quite a number of hymns expressing Thanks to Cod for his many blessings. A poem "Thanks- giving" by Carol Erb, concluded the program. Refreshments were served to the residents and cneuihers h� the committee. In the absence of the pres- ident, airs. Mrs, i largaret Gingerich report- ed on the Bean Festival booth, which realized $205.08, The Auxiliary expressed thanks to the Catholic Women's league for their cheque of $23. to the bus fund. Five members volunteered to help in the dining room and kitchen for the Thanksgiving dinner on October 24, from 4:30 to 6:30. Plans for the Annual Tea and Bake Sale will be finalized at the November meeting. Tickets will be sold on an afghan made by a resident. Emmanuel United Church ZURICH Rev. WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The October meeting of Dashwood Women's Institute was held by the citizenship and education committees with Mrs. Ray Rader convenor. Roll call was answered by naming a renowned Canadian you would like to meet. Mrs. Eleanor Scott, principal of Huron tlope School was guest speaker. She spoke on the work of the school and showed slides on the act- ivities both inside and out of the school. Many visitors come to the school and are very imp- ressed with the progress of the children. Mrs. Ray Rader discussed the motto "Education Opens Many Doors." Carol and Barbara Rader played accordion select- ions. Mrs. Iioward Maier, pres- ident, dealt with the business, Mrs, Sid Baker gave the high- lights of the London Area conv- ention held at Clinton. Mrs. Leonard Schenk and Mrs. How- ard Datars are leaders for the course "Knacks of sewing with Mitts." FOWL SUPPER The Ladies Aid of Zion Luth- eran church held their annual supper for their husbands and guests with group II and Mrs. Ernest Koehler, convenor. Following supper Jim Hayter showed slides of Friedsburg Day. A1rs, Jim Hayter, president, conducted the business. The ladies will cater to a wedding in November. The Altar Guild is Mrs, Lorne Becker and Ivirs. Oscar Miller. The 60th anniversary of the Ladies Aid will be celebrated by doing special repairs in the church.
