Band presents brief to council (continued from page 1) and enjoyment for others who simply enjoy listening. It provides opportunities for disc- iplined training of young people and children. The Band receives invitations to play at events in other com- munities and has experienced receiving generous hospitality and praise as well as stipends representing appreciation. At such events the name of Zurich gets publicized in a favorable way. The Band has been called upon to render entertainment and to lead parades on special occasions in Zurich. It has also taken rhe musical lead in out- door religious and memorial services. Sections of the Band have been engaged also for indoor religious and ceremonial occasions. By sponsoring the annual Band Taroo in Zurich on three occasions now the Band has attracted many people to visit Zurich and to experience our hospitality and to make it known over a wide area. The Band does not claim to have attained a high degree of perfection as yet, but since its organization for Canada's Cent- ennial year has made impressive strides toward that ideal. To maintain its present efficiency and to improve on it,it is essent- ial that the Band have adequate space for regular practicing. It needs also a reliable supply of funds for printed materials such as music and marching directions and choreographic patterns and for repair of instru- ments as well as purchase of new ones occasionally. Our request, therefore, is that the Zurich Village Council provide in its budget for an annual grant as recognition of the Band and use its good offices and fatherly influence to prov- ide adequate indoor space for the meetings and practice ses- sions of Zurich Centennial Band. This organization, on its parr, promises to comply with all reasonable regulations conc- erning the care of such space and its furnishings and,, as re- quired, to give an accounting of finances and activities. Respectfully submitted Zurich Centennial Band Committee. 0 Henson News A large congregation attended a special Thanksgiving service in Hensall United Church on Sunday morning. Rev. Donald R.
