Rescue man
Quick action by neighbours

ment saved a 71 -year old

Politicians speak
Legend has it that Eve
tempted Adam with an
apple. But who could really
resist this red, juicy
fruit? The nutritious and
plentiful apple has tickled
the palate of Canadians for
many decades.
Ontario is the home of one
of the most famous apples
in the world. The McIntosh
apple is descended from
one single tree which grew
on the farm of John Mc-
Intosh in Dundas County and
was discovered in 1796.
Other apple varieties are
used for cooking, process-
ing or eating. In 1970,
Ontario orchard owners
harvested approximately
288 million pounds, worth
approximately $9,673,000.
Farmers in Huron County will have the opportunity on Thurs-
day night, October 7, to hear the farm policies of three parties
involved in the upcoming provincial election.
Mrs. Faye Fear, secretary of the Huron Federation of Agric-
ulture, announced that representatives of the Conservatives, Lib-
erals and New Democratic parties would be a Central Huron
High School in Clinton to outline farm programs.
The Hon. C , S . MacNaughton, Huron MPP and Minister of
Transportation and Communications, Murray Gaunt, Huron -
Bruce MPP, and Paul Carroll, NDP candidate for Huron, have
agreed to address the meeting and answer questions.
While organized by the Huron F of A, all farmers or other
interested citizens, are invited to attend. The meeting is sched-
uled to begin at 9 p.m.
