The youth of Hensall and area
recently met at the United
Church to elect their slate of
officers for the corning year.
They are, president, Cathy
Cook; vice president, Brian
Beck; secretary, Pam Mickle;
treasurer, Joe Reaburn. It was
decided to meet Wednesdays
of every week, at 7;30 p.m.

The Carmel Women's Miss-
ionary Society meeting was held
in the Sunday School room on
Monday, September 13, at
8:30 p.m. Vice president Mrs.
Gordon Schwalm presided and
opened the meeting with a poem
Devotional was given by Mrs.
Rocus Faber and assisted by Mrs.
Ed Munn and Mrs. Harvey Hyde,
acting secretary for the evening
was 11rs. Percy Campbell.
Contributions to the "LeastCoin"
with a prayer was made.
W. M. S. and Arnold Circle
are hostesses to the Huron
Presbyterial held on Wednesday,
September 15, at 1:30 p.m. in
Hensall Carmel Presbyterian
church, with I\iiss hazel Mac-
donald as the guest speaker, who
spent three years in Africa as a
missionary.
The new annual Canada Coun-
cil Blue Book was passed around
for all members to see and to
take hone to read.
A new daily devotional reading
book "These Days" are available
by yearly subscription. One
hundred pounds of oused clothing
was sent to the west last week.
Next meeting will be held
on October 4, at 8:15 p.m.
and the roll call to be answered
with "Thanks." Decotional is to
be given by Mrs. George Waly
and Mrs. Madge.
Wedding
SMITH - SCRABUIK
St. Paul's Anglican Church,
Hensall, was the scene of a
pretty wedding on Saturday,
September 11 at 2 p.m_
The marriage was solemnized
between Deanne Marlene Scrab-
uik, of Hensall and Jody Gordon
Lee Smith, of Forest, by the
Rev. George Anderson, of Exeter
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. William Scrabuik,
of Hensall, and the groom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Smith, of Forest.
The bride was radiant in a
white crepe Grecian gown with
chantilly lace veil surmounted
on white flowers and small pearls
She wore a silver necklace with
small pearl pendant and pearl
stud earrings and carried a
bouquet of red roses. Iler maid
of honor was Miss Marilyn Whit-
ney, of Crediton, who was
charming in a green gown, the
bodice of which was green velvet
with the high waisted skirt of
green and silver brocade. She
carried a bouquet of pink rose-
buds and white daisies.
The mother of the bride wore
a turquoise gown and white
accessories, while the mother
of the groom wore a blue lace
gown and white accessories,
with corsages of mauve and
white baby mums.
The best man was Mr. Bob
Smith, Forest, brother of the
groom.
The bride was given in mar-
riage by Mr. Duncan Pennycook
of Exeter, friend of the family
and a former colleague of Mr.
Scrabuik, who was unable to
attend owing to the nature of
his employment with the Ontario
Government, near Sudbury,
Ontario.
Miss Mary Goodwin rendered
two solos accompanied by Mrs.
Frank Forrest on the organ.
The wedding reception was
held at the home of Mrs. Scrab-
uik where the two-tiered wedding
cake was cut by the bride, with
the assistance of the groom,
with twenty guests present.
