Perennially popular comedienne Carol Burnett and the rest of
her talented gang, including actor Harvey Korman, will be
featured on CBC -TV this season on the Carol Burnett Show
which debuts Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 8:30 p.m.
Barfield council discuss plans
Bayfield village council
meeting was dominated last
Monday night by many involved
discussions of projects, plans,
and problems which the village
of Bayfield faces at the moment.
While not much new business
was introduced, the Tuyll- Marg-
aret
aresaret drainage scheme, dust on
the roads, the question of sever-
ance, the cost of pipes and drains
all were discussed.
The main problem which will
has'e new action considered to
solve it is the noise and disturb-
ance caused during the night by
youngsters on the street. Num-
erous complaints have resulted
in the concern of the council,
and the contemplation of a dec-
ision to take action.
Eric Earl visited council with
a petition signed by 109 people
in support of the proposed change
in Bayfield's liquor laws. Coun-

The Huron County llealth
Unit sent a bulletin with inform-
ation concerning guidelines for
community noise. Noise is
classified as: (1) Residential,
(2) Industrial, (3) Motor Vehicles,
and (4) Power Appliances and
construction.
A discussion of the problem of
the Bayfield dump arose in
council, arriving at the concl-
usion that mandatory recycling
of garbage and trash will event-
ually have to take place.
The streetlights on main
street must be installed by the
hydro, as they are on hydro poles,

riptions and cost estimates reg-
arding the Tuyll-Margaret
drainage system have been
completed by the reeve, and a
special meeting of council was
held Wednesday night to discuss
thenrand the final plans regard-
ing tenders for the job.
Councillor MacFadden moved
that the bills be paid.
Road superintendent John
Lindsay called it to the attention
of council that a new and more
powerful chain saw in needed.

t Huronview
The Goderich Laketown Band
directed by Charles Kalbfleisch
of Varna, played a concert for
the residents on the lawn at
Ihuonview on Monday evening.
Mr. Harvey Cutt, of liuronvies,
a former resident of Goderich,
thanked the band on behalf of
the residents.
Mrs. Grace Pym led a sing-
song and introduced the program
at the August birthday party
provided by the Elimville Wom-
en's Institute on Wednesday
afternoon. The program included
a piano duet by Joan and Elaine
Pym, musical numbers by Susan,
Gail and Debbie Cooper; Judy
and Cheryl Parsons; dance numb-
ers by Tracey Coward; accordion
selections, Mrs. Phillip John.
Gifts were presented to the
thirteen residents having August
birthdays and lunch was served.
A former member of the hlim-
ville Women's Institute, Mrs.
Brock, of Huronview, expressed
the appreciation of the residents.
The Silver Strings, a group
of young musicians from the
Winthrop area, entertained on
Thursday Family Night with Faye
Dalton, piano, Linda Godkin,
violin, Beth McNichol, banjo,
and Ray McNichol, electric
guitar. The program was well
attended by the residents.
Marshall Stewart thanked the
young people for a fine program.

Clarke reunion
The Clarke reunion was held
at Dashwood Community Park
with about 50 in attendance.
Sports were organized by Dianne
and Ken Clarke and Marie Din-
ney.
Those winning prizes were:
longest married couple, Mr. and
Mrs. Freeman Hodgins; most
recently married, Mr. and Mrs.
Don Clarke.
Other events were won by Mrs.
George Clarke, Ben. Thompson,
Betty Clarke, and Lyn Ilinkins.
Bob Galloway's and Barry
Clarke's teams won the relays.
The winners of races were Jim
Burr, Linda and Bill Ratcliffe,
Kim , Jeff and Debbie Galloway,
Brian Dinney, Marie McMicking,
Glen Zirk, Ronnie and Dianne
Clarke.
The Burr family will be in
charge of the 1972 picnic.
