Of particular interest to people in this area is a first prize winner in the knitting section of the work of the blind. She is Miss Greta Lammie, Hensall. Mrs. Aldwinkle, is a patient in Clinton Community Hospital, with a fractured hip suffered in a fall at her home. Mrs, Richardson, Mrs. William Kyle, Mrs. Grant MacGregor and Mrs. Maude Hedden, who have been patients in South Huron Hospital, have returned home. Mrs, Edna Paterson is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Alderdice and family spent the weekend in Thornbury. The WMS and Arnold Circle of Carmel Presbyterian Church Hensall, are entertaining the patients at Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall, during the montt of August, every Monday. Those who assisted on Monday were; Mrs. Edith Bell, entertain- ed with piano selections and singing was enjoyed. Others helping to play bingo were Mrs, Bessie Luker, Mrs. Earl Camp- bell, Mrs, Glen Bell, Mrs, Beverly Beaton, Mrs. Rockus Faber and .Mrs. R, A , Orr. Wedding CURRIE - GORDON Emmanuel United Church Sebringville was the setting for a lovely summer wedding on Sat- urday July 31, uniting in marriage Eric John Douglas Currie and Lesley Kay Gordon both of Tor- onto. The four o'clock ceremony was performed by the groom's father Rev. Harold F. Currie against a background of candel- abra and baskets of white gladiola and yellow mums. Miss Elizabeth Seebach, of Sebringville provided traditional wedding music. on the organ. Lesley is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs, John Gordon of Dundee, Scotland and the groom is the son of Rev. Harold F. Cur- rie and. Mrs. Currie of Sebring- ville, formerly of Hensall. Given in marriage by her fath- er the bride was radiant in a gown of white, wild silk with empire waistline, The bodice was enhanced by lace appliqued daisies. The same feature also decorated the wrist bands of the long full sleeves. Her floor - length veil of silk illusion was also trimmed in like mariner and was held by a coronet of daisies. She carried a bouquet of yellow rose buds and white stephonatis. Attending her as matron of honor was Mrs, Richard Johnston of Toronto, and bridesmaids were Miss Rosemary Cullum, Toronto and Miss Carmen Currie, Sebringville, sister of the groom. All wore identical dresses of peppermint green and white flor- al chiffon with empire waistlines and long full sleeves. Each carried colonial bouquets of yell- ow mums and white daisies, while daisies and baby mums wen entwined in their hair, Wayne Currie, London was groomsman for his brother and guests were ushered by Douglas Gordon, Toronto, brother of the bride and Charles Evans of Tor- onto. The wedding reception was held at the Victorian Inn, Strat- ford. For travelling, the bride chose a navy and white ensemble with navy accessories and a white gardenia corsage. On their return the young coupl will reside in Toronto. ROBERT A. BOYCE Robert Henry Boyce, of Hensall passed away Sunday, August 8, in South Huron Hospital, in his 92nd year. Surviving are his wife the form. er Laura Beatrice Barisdale, one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Shirley) Hackett, Stratford, Another daughter, Mrs, Harvey (Iris) Lucelle Sparling, predeceased him on December 1970, There is also a son- in- law, Harvey E. Sparling, Willowdale; two grand daughters, Ruth and Susan Hack- ett, Stratford; two grand -sons, Stephen Sparling and David Hackett, The late Mr. Boyce was a member of Chiselhurst United Church, Public funeral service was held from Bonthron funeral home, Wednesday, August 11, at 2 p.m. with Rev, D. R. Beds officiating, A burial in Baird's cemetery Combine fire destroys crop near Hensall Ten acres of barley on a farm about one mile east of Hensall were destroyed Monday when a combine harvesting the crop caught fire. The operator of the combine, Monty Plumb 22, escaped un- injured from the fire which was caused by a broken hydraulic line in the combine. Ross Forrest, owner of the farm, estimated damage to his crop at $1, 000. Fire brigades from Hensall, Brucefield and Exeter fought the blaze which started ar- ound noon.
