John F. Moritz left on Monday
for Cavalier, North Dakota, where
he will help garner the summer ,
harvest.
Captain Ramsay, of the God-
erich Purity Flours, stayed Mon-
day night after the ball game
with the Zurich pitcher, R.
Ohlert. Speculation is that he is
trying to learn the secrets of Oh-
lert's curves.
Oliver Davis, of Toronto, a
former member of the Molson's
Bank staff in Zurich, spent sever-
al days holidays in the village
last week.
Three ball games were played
on Sunday, one in Windsor, one
in Sandwich, and one in Ford.
This is something new in Ontario,
and will create some work for the
Lord's Day Alliance Act people.
At the regular meeting of the
Hay Township council, Rheinold
Miller was appointed tax collector
for the year 1921, at a salary of
$45.
On Monday night the protest
game between Goderich and Zur-
ich was played on the local diam-
ond with Zurich winning by a
score of 13-3,

motored to London on Thursday
last,
Mr. and Mrs. R. Welsh, of
Exeter, spent Wednesday after-
noon with Mrs. C. Decker.
Mr. Jacob Haist of Orange,
California, is visiting with his
niece and nephews in town, the
William's family.
Miss Emily Plouff, Mr. John
Spath and daughter Ruth, from
New York, visited with Mrs. P.
Koehler coming here from Cleve-
land, Ohio.
Miss Helen Foster, of Detroit,
is spending a two week's vacat-
ion at the home of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Foster.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hoff-
man and Mr. Clayton Hoffman
of Galt are spending a week's
holidays with their parents here.
Mrs. Hoffman is relieving her
father, Mr. William Siebert, at
the local post office for the week,
Mr. Siebert being away on a
fishing trip.
Mrs. Ferdinand Haberer is
spending a week with friends at
Crediton.

At a special meeting of the
Huron County Council on Friday
night, first and second readings
were given by-law authorizing
the sale of debentures for $250,
000 for the construction of a new
court house in Goderich.
Miss Meda Surerus, who has
been a very successful teacher
in a Toronto school for the past
14 years, has been appointed as
assistant principal to the Pauline
Avenue school, one of the finest
in Toronto. Besides teaching, Mis.
Surerus trains children's choirs
which have competed and carried
off prizes in Massey Hall.
The Kalbfleisch mills are clos-
ed this week to give their employ-
ees a well-earned rest fro m their
labours. On Wednesday an annual
picnic is being held at Bayfield,
for all the employees and their
families.
Harold Taylor, principal of the
Dungannon Public and Continuat-
ion School, has accepted the pos-
ition as principal of the three-roon
public school at Dashwood.

The Rev. O. Winter, pastor of
St, Peter's Lutheran Church,
Zurich, having received a leave 1
of absence from his congregation,
has accepted an appointment to
serve as a Ship's Chaplain on the
boat "The Seven Seas" leaving
Montreal for Europe August 25.

the past week camping in the
Pinery in the Mousseau cottage,
Mr. and Mrs, Leonard Erb and
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dignan spent
several days motoring through
the Northern country, Midland,
Huntsville and other interesting
places, where they visited with
Mrs. Erb's brother, Mr. and Mrs,
Kenneth Koehler.
Mrs. Harold Reichert of Detroit,
returned to her home after spend-
ing a lovely holiday at the home
of Miss Inez Yungblut and other
relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Art MacLean and
children of London spent a few
days over the weekend at the
home of their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd O'Brien,

On Sunday, July 30, approxim-
ately 75 persons gathered at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar
Elligson, R, R, 2, Walton, for
the annual Deicherr reunion.
A busload of Huron County flog
Producers travelled to Toronto
last week to see the new system
of selling hogs by teletype, at
the Toronto office of the Ontario
Hog Producers.
Work commenced this week on
filling the Community Centennial
Park, ' in Zurich, as two trucks
began drawing fill.
Mr. and Mrs. William O'Brien
Jr. ani Jimmy have returned -to
Toronto, after spending a couple
of weeks holidays at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy O'Brien.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Hildebrand,
of Goderich, spent Saturday even-
ing with Mrs. Minnie Weido.
