Cochrane reunion
at Bayfield Park
The annual Cochrane picnic
was held at Bayfield on July 11,
with a good attendance.
Winners of the sports events
were; races, seven and under,
Kathy Love, Jimmy Hillier;
eight and under, Robbie Goff,
Jimmy Hillier; 12 and under,
Steven Hillier, Brenda Goff,
Elaine Love; three-legged race,
Steven Hillier, and Robbie Goff;
Elaine Love and Brenda Goff;
paper plate, Jim Love and Brenda
Goff, Lois Jones and Kathy Love.
Person with fairest hair, Lois
Elliott; Man with Shortest feet,
Jim Love; Man with most hair on
his legs, I<en Jones. 'Married
couple who never had been on
an airplane, Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Love, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Jones;
Person with thickest glass lens,
Bessie Fuss. Relay races were
enjoyed by all. Sports under the
direction of Jean Goff and Jessie
McAllister.

WALPER - VANDER WIEL
The marriage of Pamela
Joyce Vander Wiel, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. William Vander
Wiel, R, R, 2, Kipper', to Ron-
ald Jacob Walper, son of Harry
Walper, Exeter, tool< place in
Peace Lutheran Church, Exeter.
The ceremony was performed by
Rev. Eifert. The Church was
decorated with white chrysanthe-
mums and pink carnations.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a lace
over satin floor -length gown with
long trailing veil. She carried
red roses and white mums with
stephanotis and white velvet
sfreamers.
Donna Desjardine, of Grand
Bend was the maid of honor and
the bridesmaids were Sharon
Vander Wiel, Toronto and Connie
Gibbons of Clinton and the flow-
er girl was Heather Vander Wiel.
They were dressed alike in blue
chiffon dresses with bouguets of
white mums and shocking pink
carnations with white streamers.
Michael Jorgensen was the ring -
bearer.
The organist, Janet Miller,
played traditional wedding mus-
ic and the congregation sang
"Walk with Jesus" and "Blest Be
the Tie That Binds."
Wayne Desjardine, of Grand
Bend, was the groomsman while
the ushers were Delton Walper,
Exeter, and Roderick Vander
Wiel of R. R, 2, Kippen.
The reception was held in the
Dashwood Community Centre
with the Ken Scott Trio playing
the music.
For a wedding trip to the
United States the bride travelled
in a yellow dress with matching
coat, white accessories and a
corsage of yellow roses.
WEBSTER - SIIORTREED
Melville Presbyterian Church,
Brussels, was the setting far the
marriage of Janet Eleanor Short -
reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Shortreed, R.R,1, Waltoc
to Mack Robert Webster, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Watson Webster,
R. R.1, Varna. Rev . C , A . Mc-
Carroll officiated. The church
was decorated with candelabra
and purple mums.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a floor -
length gown of lagoda. The bod-
ice was of French guipure lace
with a jewel neckline, bell
sleeves and chapel train. A flor-
al cluster and crystal jewels held
her four -tier silk illusion veil.
She carried a purple orchid with
shasta daisies.
Emma Shortreed, of Guelph
was the maid of honor wearing a
gown of batiste with a purple bod-
ice and purple figured skirt. It
had a Gibson girl collar and
bishop sleeves. A green satin
bow accented the Empire Waist-
line.
The organist was Mrs. Nora
Moffat, of Wroxeter and she
accompanied the soloist, Peter
Postill, Clinton when he sang
"The Lord's Prayer" and "Wedding
Prayer."

ushers were Kenneth Shortreed
Walton and Paul Morrison, Varna
A reception was held in the
auditorium of Seaforth District
High School, Seaforth,
For a wedding trip to Northern
Ontario the bride chose a mauve
crepe dress with lace overcoat.
She wore a deep mauve orchid
corsage and rack accessories.
They will reside at R, R,1,
Varna.
Guests were present from New-
port, Mich., Indianapolis, Ind-
iana, Toronto, St. David's Lond-
on, Goderich, Exeter, Burlington,
Listowel, Ilderton, Ailsa Craig,
Clinton, Seaforth, Varna, Staffa
Brucefield and Walton.
