Miss Dorothy Truemner, nurse left on Monday for Toronto where she will resume her duties in a hospital in that city. Over a period of two weeks, five babies were born to a wom- an in Budapest, Hungary. She was 41 years of age and the mother of ten children at the time. The mother and babies all left the hospital alive and healthy. Among those who left on the Harvest excursion to the west, on Wednesday morning, where they will stay for the summer were; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mousseau, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Meidinger, Mrs. J, H, Schnell, Mrs. Folton, Miss Mary Kipper, Dan Gascho, Ed Schell, Menno Oesch and George Deichert, The Zurich Turf Club are holding races this Friday even- ing at six o'clock. Anyone may enter their horses and there will be no entry fee charged to the grounds, just a silver collection. Huron County's new Judge T,M, Costello, of Goderich made his first appearance in town on Monday, at a special sitting of the Tenth division court, and soon disposed of a couple of cases. Mrs. E. Bender and son Edwin and Miss Carr, of Blyth, visited at the home of Mrs. Lydia Pfile the past week. Mr. and Mrs. A F, Hess and family and Mr. K. Routledge motored to London on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Neeb bridal couple, returned from their wedding trip on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. William Schroe- der and family, of Detroit were Sunday visitors in town. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Mclsaac, of Windsor were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. P. Mclsaac. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gottschalk of Seaforth, visited with friends in this vicinity on Sunday. Miss Donella Ruby, of Kitch- ener, is spending a week's vac- ation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William S. Ruby. 25 Years Ago Clarence Geoffrey met with a painful accident when he was catching ball, which landed on his right eye. After medical treatment he is getting along quite well. W, L, "Nick" Whyte, one of the leading figures in agriculture circles in Huron County for some time, has been awarded the M,B, E. in the Kings' Dominion Day honours list. Mrs, David Meyers and son Robin, of Turnbridge Wells, Kent England, arrived at London on Tuesday where they were met at the station by the former's husband. For the present Mr. and Mrs, Meyers will be in res- idence at the home of his broth- er Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Meyers. Fire believed to have been caused by spontaneous combust- ion, completely destroyed the frame barn on the farm of George Stephenson, on the Parr Line. Also destroyed in the blaze was the season's crop of Hay and Grain. Of 187 wells tested in the village of Hensali, 18 tested class A while 69 per cent were classed as D. 15 Years Ago The Deichert families held a reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Pfaff on Sunday, and a very enjoyable time was spent. Miss Joyce Witmer of Stratford, Six Clinton students Ontario scholars Six students at Central Huron Secondary School, Clinton, have been named Ontario Schol- ars, entitling them to awards of $150 made to Grade 13 students who achieve an average of 80 percent or more. Mr. and Mrs. John Bannister and family motored to Morris - burg, where they are spending their holiday at the home of Mrs. Bannister's Aunts. Masters Roger and Douglas Gingerich of Waterloo spent a holiday at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gingerich, Goshen south. Mr. Stanley Smith, Commer- cial fisherman of the Blue Water Highway was successful to land another Sturgeon fish, not quite as large as the former which tipped the scales at 84 pounds. 10 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. William Thiel spent a few days last week in THURSDAY, JULY 22, 1971 Wingham with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr, and Mrs. Earl Heywood. Sandra Schoch, Joan Rader, Ruth Geiger and Mona Schade are spending this week at the Evangelical U13 Church Camp, Inacon, near Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Stein- bach, of London, were Sunday visitors with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Steinbach and Henry Howald. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Ducharme of Windsor, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ducharme of the Bluewater Highway, were Saturday visitors at the home of Mrs. Theresa Hartman. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bailey, Mrs. Elsie Pfile and son, Donnie of Mt. Clements, Michigan, were guests with Mrs. Clara Jacobe and family over the weekend.
