Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor,
Murray and Donna, visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Taylor and
family in Brockville. They visited
Upper Canada Village and toured
points of interest in New York
State including the Eisenhauer
Locks and the St, Lawrence Pow-
er. Dam at Massona, New York.

Lutheran women
enjoy palm
The July meeting of the
Lutheran Church Women was held
in the form of a picnic at the
summer home of Mr. and Mrs,
V,L, Becker, Varna.
After a delicious smorgasbord
dinner, 48 ladies, under the
leadership of the July committee,
Mrs. Emma Schilbe, Mrs. Earl
Yungblut, Mrs. Hubert Schilbe,
enjoyed an hour of sports and
games. Mrs. Margaret Deichert,
president, welcomed members
and their guests. Roll call was
answered by each member int-
roducing her guest.
The evening concluded with
the singing of favourite hymns,
and prayer.
Little opposition
to official plan
for Huron county

J.L. Wooden of Exeter, a
member of the county planning
board, asked if the proposed
county plan would take preced-
ence over local planning. Mr.
Keith replied that the county
plan would only be effective if
municipalities chose to pass zon-
ing bylaws to enforce the county's
official plan recommendations.
Mr. Wooden criticized the
official plan's quoted figures for
secondary school capacities. The
plan sets the capacity for South
Huron Secondary School at 1, 505
which Mr. Wooden said was an
unrealistic figure. He said a
more sensible figure of 1, 180
students was set by the education
department.
Gary Davidson, planning dir-
ector for Huron County, said he
would investigate the difference
between two figures.
Exeter lawyer Elmer Bell sug-
gested the proposed plan dis-
On July 11, cars driven by Stan-
ley Love and Beatrice Farris,
both from Exeter, collided on
No. four highway north of Exeter.
Mrs. Farris and her eight year old
son received bruises. Constable
Don Mason estimated the damage
at $1300.
On July 16, cars driven by Glen

!side town limits. Mr. Keith
replied that the plan discourages
,the construction of subdivisions
in agriculture areas and would
regulate their location.
The second public hearing is
.scheduled to be held Thursday
at Clinton.
If the official plan is approved
it will be submitted to the mun-
icipal affairs department for final
approv al.
Kenney and Muriel Mack, both
from Crediton collided on the
Crediton road west of Crediton.
Constable Giffin estimated the
damage at $290.
Constable Bob Whiteford inv-
estigated a single car accident
on July 13, in which a car driven
by Allan Bisback , Ilensall, went
out of control and collided with
the CNR tracks in I-lensall. Dam -
age was estimated at $1000.
Constable Ed Wilcox investigate
a two car collision on July 17,
in which cars driven by Florence
Phillips and Randy Spicknell, both
from London, collided on Highwa;
21, north of Grand Bend. Dam-
age was estimated at $650.
A motor -cycle stolen from Sea -
forth on July 11, was recovered by
Constable Don Mason when he
investigated an accident on July
11, The motor -cycle left the
road and struck a telephone pole
on the fifth concession of 'Osborne
Township, east of Hensall.
Constable Dale Lamont is in-
vestigating the theft of several
bales of twine from the "Big 0"
Drain Tile Company, Hensall.
The twine was strung through the
streets of Hensall by several
youths. Charges are pending.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Pratt,
London, are indebted to two loc-
al youths who pulled them from
the waters of the Morrison Dam
Sunday, after their canoe upset
50 feet from shore. Brian Little
and Mark Hill from the Erwood
youth home near Exeter swam
into the water to rescue the
Pratts who were not injured.
A series of criminal offences
which began in London where a
London Police Officer was threat-
ened at gun -point, culminated
in Crediton when Constables Bill
Glassford, Al Quinn, and Dale
Lamont arrested four men at gun-
point at a Crediton restaurant.
Assisting with the arrests were
Chief E. Day and Constable
John Cairns from the Exeter Pol-
ice Department. Criminal charges
have been laid by the London
Police Department and the Ex-
