Blue Water Rest Home First of all, we would like to say a great big thank -you to all of you who came to patronize our first strawberry festival and make it the success that it was. We are indebted to all of the ladies of the community who contributed cookies and squares for the occasion, to all who assisted with the serving through- out the afternoon, the Board Members who looked after the parking facilities, selling ad- . mission tickets, the speaker syst- em and all the picnic tables for the occasion. We were fortunate in having Mr. John Warner, Grand Bend, who provided organ music during the first part of the afternoon and agin in the evening, Desjardine's Band who played during the afternoon, Mr. Munz of Mitchell, who entert- ained on his accordian and the Zurich Centennial Band and the Majorettes who played during the supper hour. The Department of Social and Family Services set last week apart as being Senior Citizen's Week. To mark this occasion, the Zurich Public School Glee Club visited the Home on Mon- day morning and provided the Residents with a half hour of music under the direction of Mr. Lawrence Wein. On Tuesday afternoon, the Chamber of Commerce chartered a bus for an afternoon of sight seeing for the residents. Approx- imately 25 residents took ad - About Peo; De You Know .. . Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Allen, of Manitoulin Island are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Parkins and other relatives in Zurich. Mr. Herb Mousseau is a pat- ient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. William Des- marais and Scott, Windsor, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Sweeney. Mr. and Mrs. Rick Mustard of St, Marys visited Mrs. Hey over the weekend. Mr. Ted Clarke, of Ottawa is holidaying at his aunt and uncle's home Mr. and Mrs. Bill Clarke Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Ranier and family were at the graduat- ing exercises of Berean Christ- ian School, Brockville, where their daughter Thelma has been attending the past year. Others attending from this area were Rev. Cyril Gingerich, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Gingerich, and. Mildred Gingerich. Mr. Karl 1-laberer, R. -R.1, Zurich, a road employee of the Township of llay attended a course sponsored by the Ontario Good Roads Association and held at the University of Guelph. Various courses are given each year and are designed to assist municipal road employees in their every day operations. Mrs. Alfred Meidinger is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. During the course of the afternoon, while touring through and around Goderich, the bus stopped at Bisset Bros. Dairy for refresh- ments. They were treated to all the ice cream they could eat, courtesy of Bisset's Ltd. Everyone was thrilled with the outing, and now that we have a start ori the bus fund, we are looking forward to the time when we have raised sufficient funds to purchase a small bus so that the residents will have the priviledge of going out on short trips and sight seeing tours. Apart from these planned trips, rnany of our residents do not have the opport- unity to leave the Home from one _month to the next. Rev. Ephriam Gingerich had charge of the chapel service on Sunday evening. Special music was rendered by Mr. Irvin Martin Mr, and Mrs. Ephriam Gingerich and daughters, accompanied by Mrs. Irvin Martin at the organ.
