Kippen East W.I.
The 4- H girls and their moth-
ers were special guests at the
Home Economics meeting of
Kippen East Women's Institute
held in the Legion Hall, May 19.
Mrs. R. Kinsman was hostess
and Mrs. J. Drummond was co -
hostess.
Club No. I entertained with
a skit "Kippen Fashion Boutique.'
Club No II commented on seams,
zippers, facing and hems. Kip -
pen Club No, III commented on
Mix and Match, an easy and
convenient way of making sev-
eral outfits for several occasions.
Mrs. Al Hoggarth gave a hum-
orous reading. The motto "Keep
the family yearning withing the
family earnings, " was given by
Mrs. Harry Caldwell, Miss
Donna Whitehouse, a recent
winner of advanced honours, was
presented with a gift as were the
club leaders, Mrs. V. Alderdice,
Mrs. Turner, Mrs. M. Connolly,
Mrs. Kinsman, Mrs. Brodie,
and Mrs. Postma.
Mrs. R. Bell, the president,
had charge of the business and
presented a gift to Baby Chalm-
ers from the Institute.
Mrs. R. Kinsman entertained
with several piano selections.
Readings were given by Mrs. R.
Bell and Mrs. J. Drummond.
Plans were made for the bus
trip to Toronto on June 23, when
the group will tour Canada Dry,
and the Science Building. Any-
one wishing to go, contact Mrs.
Drummond or Mrs. Kinsman.
Voting delegates to the district
annual were Mrs. R. Bell, Mrs.
Drummond and Mrs. Connolly.
Mrs. Al Hoggarth, convenor
of 1-Iome Economics, had charge
of the program. Mrs. Alderdice
conducted a contest. Lunch was
served by Mrs. Connolly and her
committee.
Huron Historical
elects officers
The regular monthly meeting
of the Huron County Historical
Society was held in Belgrave
Women's Institute Hall on
Thursday evening May 13 at 8
p.m. with over 100 attending.
Mrs. Ivan Wightman opened
the meeting with 0 Canada and
welcomed the attendance and
then introduced the President,
Mr. Harold Turner, who took
over the business part of the
meeting and had the reports read
and the announcement of the
bus tour to Doon on June 16.
Any person wishing to go call
the Secretary with the members
having first preference.
Rev. H. L. Jennings of
Wingham asked the Society to
probe the possibility or erecting
a marker to mark the site of the
home of the first white settler to
take up land at Wingham, and
also asked the society to appoint
a committee to ask the
Government to set aside January
11 as Founders Day to
commemorate the birthday of
our first Prime Minister, Sir John
A. MacDonald.

Society
of the village Tweedsmuir Book
for Bluevale Women's Institute
introduced the guest speaker,
Mrs, Walter Scott, who was the
first curator of the institute. Her
topic was the history of the
village of Bluevale and
surrounding Townships of East
Wawanosh and Morris. Pictures
were also showed during her talk
of the early buildings, people
andindustries of local interest,
and Irish, Welsh and Socttish
songs, recitations and harmonica
and banjo selections were
enjoyed.
