Kyle and son, St. Thomas; Mr. and Mrs. Doug Johnston and family, Lucan; Mrs. Marion Walker, London; Mr. and Mrs, Jack Dunnell of Rannoch, and Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston and Brenda of Belgrave, were Sun- day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Byran Kyle and Doug. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby, Blenheim; Mr. and Mrs. Terry North and family of Fingal; Mr. Stewart McQueen, visited over the weekend with Mr. and. Mrs. Harry Snell. Mrs. Alma Hess has returned home after a four -months holi- day visiting with relatives and friends at Regina, Sask, Lloyd- minter, Sask., Edmonton, Alberta, Vancouver and Victoria, B.C. Kenneth Jones, R. R.2, Hen- sall has completed his first year engineering at Guelph University, fifth standing in a class of 42. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Don Smale, Joanne and Brenda, have taken up residence in their home on King Street, which they recently 'purchased from Glenn McKenzie. BRIDAL SHOWER Friends, neighbours and rel- atives gathered in the Hensall Legion Hall on May 8 for a miscellaneous bridal shower for Kathie Henderson, bride -elect of this month. The hall was dec- orated in pink, white and mauve centred with a bridal umbrella. Mrs, Leonard Noakes read the presentation address, and the Misses Pamela and Sheila Lind- say, nieces of the bride -elect, presented Kathie with lovely gifts. Following the presentat- ion Kathie thanked the guests in a fitting manner. Lunch was served by several ladies. Guests were present from Ingersoll, Gorrie, St. Marys, London, Blenheim, Exeter and Hensall. RUMMAGE SALE The Hensall Kinette Club report a very successful annual Rummage Sale, which was held in the Hensall Arena auditorium, Saturday, May 8. Several cart- ons of used clothing not sold were donated to the United Church bale. ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS KIPPEN EAST W. I. The board of directors of Kippen East Women's Institute met at the home of the presid- ent, Mrs. R. Bell. Programmes were planned as well as a bus trip to Toronto on June 23. Fam- ily night in November, a Des- sert Euchre in January, when all the branches in South Huron will be invited and the members will bring a friend to the March meet- ing. The roll call contest is again conducted and each member has a secret pal. The District Annual meeting of South Huron Women's Instit- ute, will be held in Hensali United Church, with Hensall Branch as hostess, on Thursday, May 20, with registration from 9;30 to 10;00 a, in. Besides the usual business, there will be a crafts display. Election of offic- ers will be held in the afternoon. The ladies of St. Paul's Anglican Church were phased with the success of their' Smorgas- bord supper held in the church hall, Saturday, May 8, which was well patronized. Mrs. Frank Forrest and Mrs. Jean Turner were conveners of this project. The Girl Guides and Brownies did a rushing business last Sat- urday, May 8, selling girl guide cookies. The local association appreciate the co-operation of the residents in purchasing the cookies. AMBER REBEKAHS Amber Rebekah Lodge held their regular meeting, Wednes- day May 5, with N, G, Mrs. Jack Taylor presiding, assisted by Vice Grand Mrs. Elizabeth Riley. An invitation was rec- eived and accepted to attend a meeting of Clinton Huronic Lodge, June 7. Quite a number expect to attend, Past Noble Grand's of the district are plan- ning a motor bus trip to Toronto, May 20. The annual church service of the Oddfellows and Rebekah Lodges will be held in the United Church, May 30, at 11 a.m. THREE BAPTIZED At the annual Family Sunday (Mother's Day) Service in the United Church, Sunday, the Sacrament of Infant Baptism was administered to the following infants; Todd William Fahner, son of Mr. and Mrs, John Will- iam Fahner; Shelley Lynn John- ston, daughter of Mr: and Mrs. Douglas G. Chip- chase gave the devotional from St. Pauls letter on Charity. She said that great faith and great love are two requisites for Christ- ian living and that the path of righteousness is the only way to lasting peace and happiness. Mrs. Pearl Shaddick read scriptures from I Corinthians 13 (verses 1-14), and followed the devotional with prayer, Mrs. T. Kyle, who took up the collection, was hostess. The ladies worked on two quilts during the afternoon and will continue with a pot luck dinner Tuesday, as well as pack- ing the bale. Volunteers to help in Exeter hospital writing letters for patients, etc., were asked for. Invitations were received from Centralia and Huronview, May 12, and arrangements were made to attend.
