Miss Donna Whitehouse, R, R,
2, Kippen, was awarded adv-
anced honors at 4- H achieve-
ment day for the Zurich area,
Saturday in South Huron District
High School.
Miss Whitehouse is a teacher's
aide at Huron Centennial School,
Brucefield.
County honors were given to
Carol Masse, Beverly Stire,
Dashwood; Jane Merner, R, R,1,
Hay; Marian Rasenberg, R, R, 3,
Zurich; Janice Hayter, R, R, 2,
Dashwood; Betty Baltessen, R, R, 2
Grand Bend; Cathy Fuss, Hensall;
Debbie Aikenhead, Debra Brodie,
R, R,1, Brucefield; Judy Miller,
Darlene McBride, R, R, 1, Zurich;
Debra. Hogg, Mary Blackwell,
Mary Anne Groot, R, R, 2, Zurich
Debra Denomme, Zurich.
Provincail honors were present-
ed to Judy Guy, Dashwood; Cora
Van Raay, R, R, 3, Dashwood;
Sandra Webb, R, R, 2, Zurich;
Debbie McKinley, R,R,1, Zurich
Theme of the day was separ-
ates for summer. About 150
attended the day in charge of
Miss Catherine Hunt, Huron
County Horne Economist.

Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary Eleci
New Slate of Officers For Next Term
Hensall Legion Ladies Auxil-
iary met Tuesday evening,
May 4, for their May meeting
with first vice-president, Mrs.
Howard Smale, presiding. Past
president, Mrs. Garnet Allan,
installed a new member, Mrs.
Mary Hallman.
It was announced that in a rec-
ent canvas of the village for the
Red Cross, $220. was realized.
Members of this organization
canvassed.
Members have tickets for sale
on the Penny Sale, with draw to
be made June 4.
First vice-president Mrs.
Howard Smale presented a gift
to Mrs. Mildred Chalmers, for
her infant son. The Zone Rally
will be held in Blyth, May 12.
An invitation to bowl in a
tournament in Seaforth May 15,
was accepted.
Mrs. Leonard Noakes acted as
chairlady for election of officers,.

Joint installation with Legion
officers will be held May 22,
with Blyth installing team in
charge.
Attendance prize was won by
Mrs. Howard Smale; mystery
Mrs. Garnet Allan.

The Bayfield Volunteer Fire
Department held their annual
banquet at the Bayfield Comm-
unity Centre. Thirty-six attend-
ed and once more the ladies of
the banquet committee put on
a terrific meal.
President Pat Graham was chair
man for the occasion and after
dinner a rousing game of euchre
was held. Ladies' high prize was
won by Mrs. Jack Merner; ladies'
low, Mrs. Roy Scotchmer; lone
hands, Mrs. Reg Francis. Win-
ner of men's high and most lone
hands was Mert Merner, with
Bob Turner winning the men's
low. Mrs. Bob Turner won a
prize for being in the right chair
at the right time.
The euchre game was under
the capable direction of games
chairman (for the evening) J,
Ernie Hovey.
This banquet is held each
year as an expression of apprec-
iation for the good job the Bay-
field Volunteer Fire Department
has done and is doing in the
area.
