The Zurich Bantams who were
currently taking part in the OMHA
playoffs were defeated last Friday
night in the fourth game in the
best=of-five playoff series, The
Bantams were defeated 5-3 in
overtime by Oakwood who took
the All Ontario Title. The Bant-
ams added another trophy to their,
collection receiving the "runners-
up" for the All Ontario.

off to a start when he shot them

play , his being the only goal
of the first period.
At the 3:03 mark of the mid-
dle stanza Rick Travx scored his

Huron -Perth Separte School Board
Sets Rate For AU Municipalities
(by Mrs. Wilma Oke)
The Huron -Perth County Rom-
an Catholic Separate School
Board at a special meeting held
in Seaforth Friday night decided
to hold the line on the mill rate
in Stratford. There will he no
increase in the mill rate which
will remain at last year's level
of 31.72 mills residential and
35.24 mills commercial with
the total levy for Stratford am-
ounting to $103, 086.
The purpose for maintaining
the mill rate was to pick up the
1969 and 1970 underlevies of
$240 and $3862 respectively in
Stratford, and thus allow the
board to break even in the 1971
operation within the municipal-
ity.
The board also approved the
rates for the remaining 44 mun-
icipalities of which 20 will have
a decrease, one will remain the
same and 23 will have an in-
crease over last year's levy which
was the same as the public
school rate. The one which re-
mains the same as last year is
Stratford, as does Hay Township.
Jack Lane, Business Administ-
rator, reported the reason for not
following the public school rates
this year is that the Department
of Education specifies that all
surpluses from former school
boards prior to county formation
be returned to the municipalit-
ies in 1971, and as a result many
municipalities will receive re-
funds which will result in a
considerable decrease in public
school rates."

Certain municipalities within
the public system have surpluses
whereas the Huron -Perth Board
may have had a deficit in these
municipalities on amalgamation
with the county system, conseq-
uently are unable to remain with
the public school mill rate.
It is anticipated that in some
areas where the public school
mill rate has been lowered this
year the mill rate will be in-
creased next year to meet local
requirements.
Huron Board
(continued from page 7)
In other business the board
approved a motion to withhold
lists of names of teachers resign-
ing because of "embarrassment"
caused when the names are pub-
lished in the local press.
The board agreed that resig-
nations would be submitted to
the administration and the ad-
ministration would only release
the names to board members at
the meeting prior to resignation
deadlines. The deadlines are
May 31 and Nov. 30, The
narnes would be released to the
press at deadline time.
The board also sent back for
clarification a report on a def-
icit owed by the Central Huron
Secondary School students'
council.
