Name Exeter Man
Chairman Of
Hospital Board
Stanley Frayne was elected
chairman of South Huron Hospital
Board of directors at the annual
meeting, Monday night. He
replaced Walter McBride, presid-
ent for the past two years, James
Kneale stepped up to vice-presid-
ent while Miss Alice Claypole
and MTs. Ethel Selby continue
in their positions as secretary
and recording secretary. Charles
L. Smith remains treasurer of
the board.
Richard E. Pooley, head of
the nominating committee
brought in the slate of directors
which included new members
Carfrey Cann and John Irvin.
They replaced Earl Russell and
the late Russell Hopper.
Other members of the board
are W.C. Spencer, Hensall, 5, W
Tuckey, Exeter, Ulric Snell,
Exeter, Ivan Kalbfleisch, Zurich,
R. L, Morlock, R, R, 2, Crediton,
Doug Cook, Hensal., J, B, Pryde,
Exeter, Mrs. J, G. Dunlop,
Exeter, Walter McBride, Exeter,
and Harry Hayter, R, R, 2, Dash-
wood.
The operating statement of the
hospital showed a net revenue
of $479, 343 for 1970 while exp-
enditures were $488, 387.
The financial report prepared
by C.L. Smith revealed the net
worth of the hospital close to
• $700, 000 with a payroll of over
$300, 000 per year to local res-
idents.

Attend Meeting
Robert Anderson, Manager of
the Lanark County Farmers' Mut-
ual Fire Insurance Company was
nominated and became president
of the Mutual Fire Underwriters'
Association of Ontario at their
89th Annual Convention held at
the King Edward Sheraton Hotel
in Toronto.
Attending the convention from
Hay Fire Insurance Company were
Len Erb, president; John Consitt,
secretary; Mel Webster, director;
and agents Jack Scotchmer and
Ed Hendrick.
The convention of 500 comp-
any directors, agents, and staff
heard an address from the Hon.
W. Stewart, Minister of Agricult-
ure. Mr. Steward explained the
problems relating to pollution as
it could affect the rural commun-
ity and asked that co-operation
be given to work towards cleaner
air and water.
Ralph Hedlin, and agricultural
economist, compared the agri-
business to an eskimo who had
one means of livelihood - 'seal
hunting.' Some years the prices
of the seals was good and in
other years nearly no income at
all. Mr. Hedlin asked the Mutual
Fire Underwriters' Association
members to interest themselves
in other matters of the rural com-
munity, to assist the farmer to-
ward a better standard of living.

of time has been granted to farm
mutual agents to become fully
licensed from September 1971 to

Sew N' So's met at the home of
Mrs, James Hogg on Wednesday,
April 14, at 7:30 p. m.
The roll call was answered by
all members except two. As our

before, and all samples are
complete, we worked on our
shit for Achievement Day.
We are also planning a
Fashion Show for the mothers and
friends.
The last meeting will be held
