Visit Mission
On March 31, a bus load of
United Church Women members
and friends of Emmanuel United
Church, Zurich, toured Mission
Services of London.
In 1951, just 20 years ago, the
Goderich Mission opened it's
doors to six men. Since then the
work has expanded 'till the pres-
ent time, when 110 beds are
available to the homeless and
destitute. Here they receive
dinner, bed and breakfast, free
of charge.
Roger Smith, Superintendent,
in his remarks to the ladies said
very few lazy men conte to the
Mission, but all have problems
which they cannot solve without
help.
Each evening a religious
service is held to which the men
are invited. A Bible Study of
one hour duration is conducted
weekly.
Mission Services also has a
clothing depot where the needy
may receive wearing apparel.
Mission Services has grown to
a Multiple Branch agency with
Men's Mission, Women's Mission,
Teen Girls, Home and Family
Work Branches.
Following the tour the ladies
were served coffee and a variety
of sweet buns, doughnuts, and
French pastries.
The committee in charge of
arrangements for the tour wish
to commend the ladies for the
donations of food, canned goods
and clothing sent to the Mission
Services.
