At their cottage "Place Pegal" Bayview, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ross entertained at a dinner party last Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. W.1-1, Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Quante to cele- brate the opening of the spring season at Bayview. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Statton and Debbie, of Detroit, and Mr. and Mrs. Ivester Denomme and Jeffrey, of London, spent las. weekend at the home of Mr. Five Young People Become Members Of United Church After a lengthy course, with consistent attendance and various assignments, five young people of the Confirmation Class of Emmanuel United Church, were received into membership on Palm Sunday. Those joining were; Miss Vicky Hay, Peter Corriveau, Raye Jacobe and Paul and Wayne Truemner. A reception for the new conf- irmands is planned for them following their first Communion on Thursday night, to which congregation, relatives and friends are invited. Lynda Jeffrey, of London spent the weekend at the home o her parents Mr. and Mrs. Dom- inic Jeffrey, St. Joseph. She was joined Saturday by Joe Den- omme and Peter Welch also of London after their performance with the Grandma"s Cow Dance in Zurich Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Jeffrey, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jeffrey and Mrs. Fred Siemon, of Zurich, visited Mr. Harold Siemon, of Goderich last Thursday in Vict- oria Hospital, London where he is a patient. Miss Brenda Rau, of London spent the weekend with her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Rau and family of the Bluewater. Mrs. Louise Cantin has return- ed home after spending a month in Chicago, and a few days in London visiting relatives, with her sister Stella Houle of London. On the weekend she was visited by her grandson Joey Cargill and a friend from Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Charrette and Mr. and Mrs. Noel Laporte travelled to Detroit Monday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Char- rette's and Mr. Laporte's brother Trefley Laporte. Mr. and Mrs. Isidore Corriv- eau and family; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Corriveau and family, all of London, visited with their parents Mr. and Ivirs. Joseph Corriveau last weekend. B.P. Corners was the scene of a bit of excitement Sunday when an overly friendly skunk decided to spend the day about the premises. When the proper auth- orities were called about the skunk's unusual behaviour it was strongly suggested that the anim- al be done away with rs quickly as possible as it was undoubtably rabid. With his trusty musket in hand Jim Hogg destroyed the animal with one shot (so accur- ate, no smell prevailed). The police arrived and removed the animal for examination.
