Members of the team are, back row left to right, Gary Maxwell, coach; Gary Love, Steven Haberer, Paul Robinson, Doug Eckel, Rick Bedard, Wayne Clarke, Fred Ivlommer- steeg, manager. Front row left to right, Stephen Smith, Jeff O'Brien, Randy Oke, Fred Mommersteeg, Danny Laporte, Wayne Schilbe and Billy Hay. Thesame team are still competing for their zone championship. Zurich Peewees Consolation Champions (by Doug Turkheim) During the past week the Zur- ich Pee Wees have been taking part in the Pee Wee Hockey Tournament being held in God- erich, and ended the tourney being runners-up in the "D" classification, being defeated 3-1 in their final game against Nobleton. After winning three games during the week the Pee Wees suffered their first defeat last Saturday night against Nobleton, who should have been playing in the "C" classification. NOBLETON 3 - ZURICH 1 After defeating Plattsville Saturday afternoon the Pee Wees earned the right to compete in the finals Saturday night. Al- though Zurich played a very strong game they were unable to down their strong competition. After pulling their goalie, being down 2-1 with less than a min- ute left, the locals had the mis- fortune of Nobleton scoring into an empty net. Two goals by Nobleton in the first period proved to be the two goals that held the lead for two periods of very strong hockey. Early in the final period Billy Hay narrowed the lead to 2-1, when he scored on an unassisted play. With 30 seconds left in the final period Zurich pulled their goalie, but were unable to keep it in their opponents end and they scored into the empty net. ZURICH 3 - PLATTSVILLE 1 Last Saturday afternoon the Zurich Pee Wees won their third game of the tournament as they downed Plattsville 3-1. Zurich took a 1-0 lead early in the first period with Paul Robin- son scoring on a play assisted by Wayne Clarke and Danny Laporte In the second period there was no scoring as each team played a very strong game. Early in the final period Platts- ville tied the scoring. Midway through the period Fred Mommer- steeg put Zurich ahead one goal with Paul Robinson drawing an assist. The final goal of the game came with a couple of minutes left in the period with Wayne Clarke being the marks- man and Fred Mommersteeg and Billy Hay both drawing assists ZURICH 2 -- BLYTH 1 Last Wednesday morning Zur- ich came close to being elimin- ated from the tournament in the first game as they downed Blyth 2-1 in 13 seconds of an overtime period. Midway through the final period Wayne Clarke tied the scoring with Fred Mommersteeg and Billy 1 -lay both assisting on the tying goal, to force the game into overtime. The overtime period was only 13 seconds old when Fred Mom- ersteeg scored the winning goal with Billy Hay and Wayne Clarke drawing assists. 0 More than 70, 000 miles of tra- nsmission line are used to deliver electricity across Ontario Hydro's province -wide power grid. He is survived by his wife, the former Leita King, and his daughters, Mrs. Allen (Doris) Pfaff of Stephen Township, Mrs. Robert (Eveleen) Jennison, of Grand Bend, Mrs. Kenneth (Velma) Preszcator of Kinburn, and Mrs. Mervyn (Labelle) Webb of London.
