WORK ON PROJECTS - A new program which is being carried on at the Zurich Public School
this term is called "Electives." Under this program students are given their choice of hobbies
which they can work on for a couple of periods once a week, and in this photo some of the girls
in the school are shown working on knitting while two mothers, Mrs. Howard Datars, left, and
Mrs. Don Oke, right, look on.
SOME PLAY CHESS - Some of the students at the Zurich Public School have chosen to
learn the game of chess as their elective during the current term, and this group are seen here
in action under the watchful eye of instructor Charles McQuillin. Mr. McQuillan reports they
are learning fast.

WINDMILLS OF HOLLAND - Pupils of grade one at the Zurich Public School prepared an
assortment of windmills for the Open House held last week to mark Education Week. Shown
with their colourful hnodels in this photo are Paul Lavery, left, and Angela Zehr, right.
EVEN BOYS ENJOY KNITTING - While the hobby of knitting is usually carried on by girls,
several boys at the Zurich Public School have chosen this project for their elective. Seen here
working at their knitting projects are Randy Smale, Darlene Oesch and John Schwartzentruber.
ARTIST AT WORK - Each student for their own liking
during hobby period at the Zurich Public School, and Brian
Horner is shown here putting the finishing touches on his piece
of art work.
WOODWORKING - Some of the boys at the Zurich Public
School have taken on a project to fix up old wooden desks into
handy tables with electrical outlets on them. Mark Adams,
Wayne Clark and Richard Gingerich are shown in this photo
assembling the electrical receptacles on one of the units.
