Sewing Projects
Twelve members and two
leaders met tat the home of
Mrs. William Smith on March
10.
The discussions were on
cutting, marking and pattern
symbols. Staystitching was also
shown and the reason it is done
is to prevent stretching on
curved areas such as neck,
shoulder, armhole and waist.
How to do staystitching:
1, Use some coloured thread.
2. Sew using regular stitch.
3. Sew 1/2 inch from edge.
4. Sew on one thickness of mat-
erial.
5. Sew in direction of grain of
fabric.
All the outfits are cut out
and next week the girls start
the long journey to the end of
what they hope is a nice outfit.
