HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1971-03-04, Page 7THURSDAY, MARCH 4, 1971 ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS Public Sch The Zurich Public School will be observing Education week from March 7 to March 13, with several events plan- ned for that time. Stories, poems and pictures marking the special week have been prepared for this week's issue of the Citizens News, and appear elsewhere on this page. On Saturday, March 6, pup- ils of grades five to eight will be taking part in a Skate-a- Thon, for the project, "School - to -School. " Funds will be used for postage to send parcels and other material to the school in the Caribbean which the Zurich school has been twinned with. On both Wednesday, March 10, and Friday, March 12, classes at the school will be open to visitors during the reg- ular hours. On Wednesday, the school plans to exemplify a "routine day, " while on Fri- day, visitors will be able to view the weekly assembly and elective programs, as well as normal classes. Monday, March 15, will see a special Open House in the evening from 7;30 to 9:30, when special displays of elect- ives and audio visual materials will be conducted by the stu- dents. Throughout the evening, the Glee Club, public speakers and school basketball teams will be performing. We do charchs we do reading in the morning. We do pichers. We do speshl things We do reading in the after- noon to. we just got our new readers Tuesday. We have petete at monday to Wednes- day. We do singing in the morning and in the afternoon. The techer reads us books. I like to look at Books. We do things on the bord. We go out- side. We haveare caonder in the morning. BRIAN HORNER Grade I MY PET DOG My pet dog looks sad, but she realy isent sad. She can not do any tricks dut lae on her back and let us rub her tumy. She sits on my lap and looks at me. I think she liks me. She barks to be let outside. She drinks milk and eats dog food and stuf off the table. She liks to run up and down the hall. She is afraid to go up the stairsteps. One day my dad tried to take her up the stairsteps to give her a bath in the bathtub. When she got out of the bathtub she went and laed down, Jackie Thornton Grade 2 WINTER DAY One day Tommy got out of bed and went over to his wind- ow and looked out. Everything was covered with white stuff, He knew it was snow. He got dressed quickly and went down stairs and put on his coat and hat and a scarf and then he put on his rubber boots. He opened the door and went out- side and closed the door quiet- ly behind him. Then he got his sled. He went to the fields and found many other children his size. He put his sled down the hill. He hit somebody walk ing backwards. He tripped and fell on Tommy. The boy was angry with Tommy but Tom- my was laughing. The child- ren at the top of the hill were laughing. Then the boy started to smile because he thought it was a joke. When they hit the bottom the sled tipped over and the boy got his face washed with snow. Tommy started to laugh again. The boy got up and he was smiling a little bit. Tommy helped him look for his sled and they found it at the bottom of the hill. Tommy took his sled and didn't want that to happen again so he went up the hill FRONTWARDS this time BRENDA J. The news is spring is almost here, 'Cause don't forget it comes once a year! ! It's time for fun! It's time for pleasure! Ivlr. Snow will go away to mak, some more winter weather. He didn't want to part with us, Although he also said, "I'll be back again so don't you worry. To make some frosty, frosty winter weather!" PAM O'BRIEN Age 9 Grade IV A CHILD SCIENTIST How do you know: what is good to eat? what is best to play with? what is good to help with? what is good to wear? when it is time to go to bed? when it is time to eat? We learn by trying out these things. You could say we are scientists. Our mother would feed us when we were young. She would put our coat on whet we should go outside. She tells us when we should go to bed, When we were little we had to learn. Growing up is a time to learn. Elizabeth Datars Age 9 Grade IV SPRING Birds will come back It's maple syrup time, Snow is melting away quickly, What fun! Drip, drip, drip goes the sap from the trees Let's go and collect it so mer- rily. Boil it, cook it in the high temperature It is good to eat after being cooked. We will gather sap again I hope And do it all over once more next year We'll eat and eat until we are full I think it is fun. Don't you!
