councillors it would be most
difficult to come up with an
accurate figure in this study,
but Reeve Elsner Hayter retaliat•
ed with a remark that the coun-
ty estimate would probably be
as hear the truth as the estimat-
ed costs from Deneau's office
of a county welfare system.
In other business, the execut-
ive committee received approv-
al for a Huron County Children's
Aid budget. for $280, 029 with
the county share being $87, 973;
reported that a liason commit-
tee to work with the board of
education in Huron would be
composed of Warden Jack P.
Alexander; Gordon H. Hess,
chairman of the executive
committee; and Everett U.
Mclllwain, member of the
executive committee, obtain
council's sanction for an Em-
ergency Measures budget of
$800 with the $600 salary of
the acting co-ordinator, Clerk
John Berry, refunded back dir-
ectly to the county; and report-
ed
eported audit fees for all county
departments at $4, 220 to A. M.
Harper, county auditor.

Eight cars were involved in
three separate pileups just north
of the Crediton Road on Febru-
ary 22. Browing snow and slip-
pery road surfaces helped to
create tricky driving conditions
shortly after five o'clock for
homeward bound motorists.
Mrs. Theresa Regier, 43, of
R. R, 2 Zurich was admitted to
the South Huron Hospital for
treatment of a badly fractured
arm. Mrs. Regier was a passeng-
er in a car driven by her husband
Clement. The Regier vehicle
and cars operated by Gerald
Prout, R. R, 3 Exeter and Robert
Elliott, R. R. 2, Varna were
involved in the mishap. Const-
able Fraril: Giffin estimated
damage at $1, 600 to the three
cars.
The initial collision of the
three at this location had occur-
red between cars operated by
Marvin Bower, 20 of 83 John
Street, Exeter and Charles
Webber, 35, of Hensall. Darn -
age was $600 to the vehicles.
The Bower car was subsequent-
ly damaged further when cars
operated by Janet Hern, R. R. 3,
Exeter and Fred Schroeder, 64,
of Dashwood collided and the
Schroeder auto slid into the
Bower vehicle. Constable Giffin
estimated damage at $750 in
