At the United. Church Serv-
ice Sunday morning, Rev. Har-
old F. Currie expressed gratit-
ude to Mrs, John Alexander and
her family for the very beautiful
memorial flowers which they
had placed in the Sanctuary
each Sunday during the month
of February.
Memorial flowers were in
loving memory of Ray Lammie,
placed by his family.
Memorial flowers were also
placed in the Sanctuary for the
late Garnet Flynn.
The World Day of Prayer will
be held in Carmel Presbyterian
Church Friday, March 5, guest
speaker will be Mrs. Eric Luth-
er. Service at 3 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Funk, of
Exeter, visited over the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mac-
Donald, of Sarnia.
Mrs. Russell Brock is a pat-
ient in Victoria Hospital, Lond-
on.
Miss Darlene Hayter, Varna,
has received her certificate
from the Western Ontario Con-
servatory of Music, for passing
the Grade Two theory examin-
ation with first class honours.
Darlene is a pupil of Miss Greta
Lammie, Hensall.
LEGION BANQUET
The Hensall Branch of the
Canadian Legion , 468 entert-
ained the Legion Ladies Aux-
iliary to a banquet in the Legion
Hall Friday evening, February
26, attended by 80 Legion and
Auxiliary members, their wives
and husbands. Each lady was
presented with a corsage.
During the evening Mrs. Vic
Stan, president of the Ladies
Auxiliary presented First Vice-
president Vic Stan, of the Legior
with a cheque for $300. Sam
Rannie was Master of Ceremon-
ies.
Dancing and shuffleboard
rounded out a most delightful
evening.

News Along The Shore of Beautiful Lake Hurons
Spring seems to be trying to
appear around this district even
though our neighbours to the
east are still fighting the snow.
A number of farmers have
suffered from both mild and
wild floods, the result of melt-
ing snow around their barns,
and a few have lost livestock.
On the lighter side the tiny

EUCHRE PARTY
Hensall Women's Institute
Frere pleased with the success
of their euchre party held in
the Legion Hall, Wednesday,
February 24, with eighteen
tables in play. Winners were;
ladies, Mrs. Gordon Love, Mrs.
Gladys Coleman; Men, John
Madge, A, R, Orr; lone hands,
Clarence Volland;
Draw for a box of groceries
was won my Mrs. Mary Taylor,
and a box of chocolates, Mrs.
Ross Richardson.

Mr. Stanley Smith found it
necessary to pull up all of his
fishing nets until the thaw, or .
lose them with the drifting ice.
And the first robin to our
knowledge, was spotted by Mr.
Dominic Jeffrey, Monday aft-
ernoon, so start re -packing
everyone, spring is right around
the corner.
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Regier
and Sharon of Detroit, spent
the weekend with their daugh-
ter and her family, Mr. and
Mrs. David Durand and David
Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Denom-
me and son Jeffrey, of London
visited Mr. and Mrs. Garfield
Denomme last weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Morley Fourn-
ier and family of London were
Sunday visitors at the home of
Mrs. Fournier's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Corriveau,
Mrs. Pauline Jeffrey, of
Blake spent the weekend with
her daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Bechard
in Bayview.
Welcome home to Mr, and
Mrs. Ross Johnston, of Bayview,
who have returned home after a
two month's holiday in Florida,
Mr. and Mrs, Allan Ross, of
Toronto visited their cottage in
Bayview last weekend for the
first time in eight weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rau,
of Stratford, spent last weekend
visiting their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Rau, and Mr.
and Mrs. Anthony Denomme.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Morrison
visited their cottage along the
Bluewater last weekend from
Toronto.
Wayne Jeffrey, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Peter Jeffrey is a
patient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter, where he is having his
tonsils removed.
Mr. Dolph Sopha is a patient
in Victoria Hospital, London.
We would like to wish a speedy
recovery to both these people.
