ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS
Raise Money For
Ability Fund
Eighteen members of the
Hensall Kinette Club, canv-
assed the village, Wednesday
night, February 10, and col-
lected $317, for the Ability
Fund (March of Dimes).
General chairman was Mrs.
Iohn Baker; recruiting chair-
man, Mrs. Harold Knight;
finance, Mrs. Ron Wareing.
Following the canvass for the
Ability Fund (March of Dimes),
the Hensall Kinette Club met
at the home of Mrs. Ken Pol-
lock.
President, Mrs. J. Drysdale
welcomed the guests who help-
ed with the canvass, and thank-
ed them for their assistance.
Charter president, Mrs.
Harold Knight presented Mrs.
Murray Bell with the Kinette
Pin and By-laws and welcomed
her a a member of the club.
Plans were discussed for the
annual spring -shut-in visits,
and for a games night in April.
A social hour followed with
two of the members being rec-
ipients of several baby gifts.
The cancelled euchre party
sponsored by Hensall Women's
Institute will be held in the
Legion Hall, Wednesday, Feb-
ruary 24,
Harold Bonthron will leave
Friday, February 19, from
New York on a week's cruise
with the Seally Mattress Comp-
any.

Unit four of the Hensall
United Church Women thet
Tuesday, February 9, for
their regular meeting and
quilting with Mrs. T, McAl-
lister presiding.
The study on "Islands of the
Caribbean Sea" was given by
Mrs, R. M, Peck. Mrs, Eric
Luther sang,
There were 26 visits to sick
and shut-ins reported. Memb-
ers were reminded of an ap-
peal for good used clothing
for the Children's Aid Society,
with articles to be left at the
church.

Plan For
Day of Prayer
The W, M, S, afternoon aux-
iliary held their February meet-
ing last Thursday at 2 p. m.
President Mrs. R, A , Orr presided.
Roll call was answered with a
missionary name and what countr;
they are in.
Mrs, Clarence Volland gave
the program and devotion, and
showed a film on "Members of
one another."
Mrs. Rocus Faber thanked the
group for the flowers and gifts
that she received while in Strat-
ford Hospital as a patient.
Arrangements were made for
the March 5 meeting at 2 p.m.,
of the "World Day of Prayer" to
be held in Carmel Presbyterian
church, with United and Anglicar
churches participating. Theme fo

UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
The United Church Women
held their monthly meeting
last Thursday evening in the
church with a good attendance.
The president, Mrs, William
Dawson opened the meeting
with prayer. The devotional
period was taken by group
three, with Mrs, John Ostrom
leading.
Scripture lesson was read by
Mrs. Fred McClymont. Medit-
ation was given by Mrs. Gordon
Johnston. Mrs. Ostrom took
up the offering and it was ded-
icated by Mrs. Mervin Johnston,

A missionary letter from Miss
Agnes Hislop, of India was read
by Mrs, Gordon Schwalm. On
display were six more wee shirts
that Mrs. Ann Broadfoot knitted
lately. They are being sent to
India for underprivileged children
Next meeting will be held on
March 11, at 2 p.m. with Mrs.
Percy Campbell and Mrs. Ed
Munn giving the decotional and
study. Roll call will be answered
with a favorite Psalm from the
Bible.

The business period was in
charge of Mrs. William Dow -
son. Twenty-three calls were
made to sick and shut-ins dur-
ing the past month. Plans were
made to hold a pancake supper
on Tuesday, February 23, A
number of thank -you cards
were read.
Plans were also made to
send a number of delegates to
the Huron -Perth Presbyterial,
to be held in Mitchell. Mrs,
John Ostrom closed the meeting
with a poem "Pause and Pray. "
Group two served lunch.
The sacrament of the Lord's
Supper will be observed next
Sunday, February 21, in the
United Church,
The Explorer group are hav-
ing a pop bottle drive next
Saturday, February 20.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reid
spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Reid at Wal-
laceburg.
Floyd McAsh visited with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
McAsh, over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. George Beatty
and family, of Willowdale,
spent the weekend at the home
of Mrs. Marie Beatty.
