Am'ber Rebekah Lodge Hear Various
Reports; Plan Birthday Party
Amber Rebekah Lodge held
their regular meeting Wed-
nesday, January 20, with
Noble Grand Mrs. Jack Taylor
presiding. The visiting com-
mittee, Mrs. Ray Consitt and
Mrs. Garfield Broderick, vis-
ited Queensway Nursing Home
and presented each patient
with a treat. Cards and treats
were sent to other sick and
shut-in members.
A report of the C.P.T.
committee was presented,
stating that the equipment on
hand of wheel chairs, walkers,
and crutches are in constant
use. More chairs and walkers
are needed. Another euchre
is planned for February.
The Noble Grand reported
she had contacted Miss Cath-
erine Russell, of Goderich,
chosen student, and attended
the United Nation Pilgrimage
in New York City held in
June last year.
Miss Russell will show her
pictures in the Lodge Hall,
Wednesday, February 3.
The IOOF's wives, and husb-
ands of the Rebekah's, will be
guests for the evening. The
22nd birthday of this lodge
will also be celebrated that
night.

General Meeting
On January 19, the Hensall
United Church Women held an
executive meeting when they
made arrangements for the
congregational supper to be
held on February 3, at 6:30
p.m.
Tentative plans were also
made to have a Spring Thaw
Supper on March 31.
A request was received from
the Children's Aid Society,
Goderich, for good used child-
ren's and adult's clothing.
Anyone wishing to donate
clothing could bring it in to
the church.
VARNA
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Whyte,
David, Crystal and Brian, of
Seaforth, spent Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
McClymont.
The treasurer of the Varna
and Goshen Bible Society, John
McAsh, has reported that $160.
has been collected and forward-
ed to the head office of the
Canadian Bible Society.
EXPLORER'S MEET
The Extilorer Group met in
the church last Tuesday even-
ing and it was opened by recit-
ing the Explorer purpose and
motto. Miss Cathy Taylor read
the scripture lesson. Miss Marie
Anne Kalbfleisch gave the
prayer. Miss Sylvia Wilson read
the minutes. A poem, "Poor
Bill McKee, " was recited by
Miss Beverly Cantelon. The
offering was taken up by Miss
Bonnie Dowson and dedicated
by Miss Anne Marie Heard. The
financial report was given by
Miss Tanis Chuter. The Study
Book was led by Mrs. Barry
Taylor and the meeting was
closed by Miss Cathy Taylor.
Approve Plans For Seaforth Addition
The sketch plans for the new
addition at Seaforth Public
School have been approved by
members of the Huron County
Board of Education. Decision
has been reached to go ahead
with the project estimated to
cost $375, 000. for the new
portion as well as the cost of
renovations to the present
school, is expected to begin
this spring and be completed in
time for fall classes, when
McKillop one -room schools will
be closing down and students
will be transported to Seaforth.
The new addition will include
a library resources centre, three
classrooms with facilities for
special education, an industrial
arts shop, a home economics
laboratory, a tiered music room
and a new staff room.
Renovations to the present
school will see the conversion
of two classrooms into an art
room and a science room; the
present staff room become a
staff work room; the present
k;rchen become a health room;
a new ceiling in the auditorium;
and boys and girls dressing
rooms with showers.
The Ad Hoc building commit-
tee was reappointed and includes
Mrs. Marilyn Kunder, John
Henderson, Donald McDonald
and. John Broadfoot.
