January seems to have been
labelled friendship month, and
so here is a little thought for
you,
Friendship's a name to few
confined
The offspring of a noble mind
A generous warmth which fills
the breast
And better felt
Than e'er exprest.
The seed catalogues are beg-
inning to arrive from the seed
companies, and before we know
it, ►anuary will be gone, and
spring just around the corner,
Last Sunday evening, a film
was shown, "The Queen is Crow-
ned" which was a film of the
coronation of Queen Elizabeth,
The residents appeared to enjoy
the colour and pageantry of this
event,
Tuesday evening, the ladies
of Blake Mennonite Church were
the hostess' for the monthly
birthday party, The only resid-
ent with a birthday during the
month of January was Mrs. El-
izabeth Richardson. The Ropp
Family, of Ailsa Craig provided
a musical program which was
enjoyed by all. Following the
program, a delicious lunch was
served by the ladies in charge.
On Wednesday and Thursday
evenings, the film "Ma & Pa
Kettle on Vacation" was shown.
The show was enjoyed by both
outside visitors and residents,
many of the residents enjoying
it as much the second night as
the first.

of the gentlemen from the card
club from the village spent the
afternoon here at the Honie
playing with some of the resid-
ents who really enjoy a good
game of cards, It would be
greatly appreciated if they would
arrange a regular weekly visit.
Most of our residents are much
more enthusiastic about a game
of cards if an old neighbour or
card partner drops in to thresh
over some of the good old times
over the card table.
The regular bingo party was
changed from Thursday to Fri-
day evening last week, We are
grateful to the members of the
Ladies Auxiliary for their assist-
ance. On Sunday evening, the
guest minister for the chapel
service was Rev. George Ander-
son, of the Anglican Church,
Exeter, We wish to thank the
persons accompanying him who_
assisted in any way in the service
The sympathy of the residents
and staff is extended to the fam-
ily of the late Mr, Ernest Stant-
on and the family of the late
Mr, Tames Cottle.
We are pleased to have Mrs.
Myrtle Woodford back with us
after her stay in hospital, and
to welcome our new residents,
Mrs, Tane McGregor, of Seaforth,
and Mr, Andrew Thiel, of Zur-
ich.

Visited by
Volunteer Youth
The young people of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church took
charge of the Sunday Service
on their Youth Sunday. The
volunteer choir sang "Let there
be peace on earth - let it begin
with me." The lessons starting
with Ecclesiastes 12 - "Rememb-
er they Creator in the days of
thy youth"... "and followed by
the epistle and gospel lessons
of the day, were read by Paul
Klopp, Lois Doerr, and Doris
Webb.
Donna Schilbe led and guided
the congregation through the
worship program and the main
prayer was prayed by Daniel
Schilbe. Christine Haberer was
organist playing the liturgy and
the congregational hymns.
Special music was provided
by Margaret Elligsen, of Broad-
hagen who accompanied her-
self by guitar and sang "Were
you there when they crucified
my Lord?" and "We shall over-
come. "
The sermon was given by
Jack Saarela, of Don Mills,
who is serving as a youthful
volunteer worker among youth
in the Synod of Eastern Canada.
He is taking a year out from
post -graduate studies for this
purpose.
On Saturday evening the
young people were treated to
a dinner by Group II of the
Lutheran Church Women's
organization. Following the
dinner, singing was enjoyed
along with hastily planned skits
illustrative of real life relation-
ships and acted out by the per-
sons present.
The visitors, Jack Saarela
and Margaret Elligsen, took
a lead in assigning the skit
themes and in the singing. Jack
announced also a Youth Congress
to take place in Toronto during
the school vacation this coming
March. Both on Saturday and
Sunday Mr. Saarela requested
the young people to centre their
lives around Christ and His
Church and reminded them that
they must not regard themselves
too young to be useful in Christ-
ian service,
