Resume Meetings
The first meeting of the New
Year of the Women's Missionary
Society was held in Carmel
Presbyterian church, Hensall,
last Thursday at 2 p.m., with
13 members joining and answer-
ing the roll call with a New
Year's resolution.
President Mrs. R. A, Orr
mentioned of the Huron Presbyt-
erial Annual Meeting to be held
in this church with WMS and
Arnold Circle as hostesses, on
Wednesday, January 27, at
2 p.m. and all ladies of the
church are welcome to attend.
Study and devotional was
given by Mrs. Harvey Hyde and
those assisting were Mrs. Harold
Bell and Mrs. Harry Snell. The
1971 study is on "Get the Word
Around. "
A letter from a missionary
of India, Miss Margaret Kennedy
was read by Mrs. Gordon Sch-
walm. All members contributed
to the "Least Coin Box."
Next meeting will be held on
Thursday, February, 11, at 2 p. n
with Mrs. Gordon Troyer and
Mrs. Clarence Volland giving
the study and devotion. The
president also reminded all of
the church annual meeting to
be held on January 27, at 8 p.m,

Unit 1 of UCW
Study America
Unit I of i-iensall United
Church Women met Thursday
afternoon, January 14, at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Robert Cook, the new unit
leader, presided.
The devotional was entitled
"Stewardship of Time." followed
by two poems suitable for the
New Year.
Mss. Walter Spencer introduc-
ed the new study book for this
year on, "The Americas. " The
minutes of the previous meeting
were read and fourteen girls
paid membership fees.
Mrs. Jack Drysdale gave the
highlights of their trip to Norway
Denmark, Germany and other
countries, last fall. Her talk
was much enjoyed.

Obituaries
MRS, MILTON RUSSELL
Mrs. Milton Russell, of Hen-
sall passed away in St. Joseph's
Hospital London, Friday, Jan-
uary 15, where she had been
admitted as a patient that week.
The former Mary Clara Duns -
ford, she was in her 88th year.
Surviving are her husband,
one son, Horner, R, R,1, Exeter;
four daughters, Isabel, Mrs.
Don Wilson, Tucson, Arizona;
Margaret, Mrs. Leroy Coleman,
Blenheim; Mrs. Irene Bossen-
berry, Grand Bend; Audrey,
Mrs. Don Joynt, Hensall; one
sister, Mrs. Florence Gould,
Exeter; fifteen grandchildren,
and fifteen great grandchildren.
Public funeral service, cond-
ucted by Rev. G. Anderson was
held from the Bonthron Funeral
Home, Monday, at 2 p. m. Int-
erment in Exeter cemetery.

(MAC) GREER
Funeral service for the late
McAllister E. (Mac) Greer,
who died suddenly at Westmins-
ter Hospital, London, Thursday,
January 14, was held from the
Logan and Sons Funeral Home,
London, Monday, January 18,
with Canon Derwyn Jones offic-
iating. Interment was in Wood-
land cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Jean Bonthron, formerly
of Hensall; one sister, Edith,
Mrs. H.W. Plaggemeyer,
Grosse Point , Michigan.

EUCHRE PARTY
A very successful Euchre Party
was held in the IOOF Lodge Hall,
Thursday, with thirteen tables
in play and sponsored by the
C,P,T, committee.
Winners were ladies, Mrs. Al
Hoggarth, Mrs. John Skea; men,
John Skea, Jim McEwen; lone
hands, Howard Lemmon.
The draw for the bushel of
apples was divided between Mrs,
Glenn Bell and Charles IIay.

Hear Reports
The Ladies Aid of Carmel
Presbyterian Church held their
first meeting of the New Year,
Thursday, January 14, with Mrs.
Clarence Volland presiding.
Annual reports were given by
the treasurer and the convenors
of the other committees.
Officers for 1971 are as follows
president, Mrs. Clarence Vol -
land; vice president, Mrs. Rob-
ert Madge; secretary, Mrs.
Harry Snell, assistant secretary,
Mrs. Earl Campbell; treasurer,
Mrs. Harvey Hyde; pianist,
Mrs, Ed Munn;
Group leaders, Mrs. Frank
Wright, Mrs. Malcolm Dougall;
Mrs. Percy Campbell, reception
committee, Mrs. Wilfred Jarvis,
Mrs. H. Hyde; flower convenor,
Mrs. Gordon Troyer; card con-
venor, Mrs. Earl Campbell;
quilting committee, Mrs. Earl

Green grows The Ability Fund,
new name for the March of Dimes,
whose new symbol is a thriving
evergreen tree with a branch miss-
ing—symbolic of the fact that dis-
abled adults have many abilities
left to help them to live a useful,
happy life.
Hensall Kinettes
Hold Meeting
At Zurich
The Kinette Club of llensall
met at the home of Mrs. Gary
Maxwell, Zurich, for the first
meeting of the new year. Guest
for the evening was Mrs. Murray
Bell.
Plans were discussed regarding
the club's assistance with the
Kinsmen National Convention to
be held in London, in August;
also for the annual March of
Dimes to be held Monday, Feb-
ruary 1, at 7 p.m.
A donation was made to the
local association of Guiding,
for their new camp.
Mrs. Leonard Hoffman was
presented with her Kinette Pin
and by-laws, and welcomed to
the club as their newest memb-
er.

Hold Pot Luck
Chiselhurst United Church
Women had a pot luck dinner
and quilting in connection with
their meeting. Mrs. Russell
Brock, president, opened the
meeting with a New Year's
message and a poem "Kings
Gift."
Mrs. Jack Brintnell gave the
worship "Hasty Judgement."
Mrs. Clarence Coleman, Mrs.
J. Brintnell and Mrs. Alvin Cole
gave a short skit. Roll call was
answered by "a Christmas Gift
received."
It was decided to send money
to Miss Nicol in memory of
Lucille Sparling. Mrs. Thomas
Brintnell introduced the new
study book on "The Americas."
Mrs. George Boa had the
program. The meeting closed
with the benediction.
