Juniors Bounce Back Strong

CO-OPS 7 - LUCAN 4
Sparked by John McKinley's
five goals, the Hensall-Zurich
Co -Ops came out of their losing
streak as they downed Lucan 7-4
in Lucan on Sunday afternoon.
The Co -Ops took a fairly conv-
incing lead in the first period as
they out -scored their opponents
5-2, John McKinley scored the
opening goal at the 3.55 mark.
Lucan came back with two goals
from Jim Hearn and Ton Hodgins.
McKinley they scored again to tie
the game, and shortly after bangec
in his third counter to give the
Co -Ops a one -goal lead.
Ron Desjardine put Zurich into
a two goal lead.
Flyers. Bluewater and Hensall Post
Victories in Zurich Rec League Play

FLYERS - 6 - MATES - 5
During the holidays in Rec
League play the Flyers edged the
Mates 6-5.
The Flyers outscored the Mates
2-1 in the first period with goals
by Gord Hay and Gary Gingerich.
The Mates goal was scored by
Rick Walker.
By the end of the second period
the game was a 3-3 tie as the
Mates turned the game and out-
scored the Flyers 2-1. Rick Walker
and Martin Vanderburg were goal
scorers for the Mates while Mahlon
Martin scored the Flyers goal.
The final period saw the Flyers
lame back and outscore the Mates
2. Tim Decker scored twice
in the final stanza while Gord Hay
ath ed the extra marker, to give
the Flyers their victory. Mates
goals were scored by Larry Hess
and Bob Johnston.
BLUEWATER 5 - SABRES 4
The Bluewater also earned a
victory as they edged out the.
Sabres 5-4.
The Bluewater outscored the
Sabres 2-1 in the first period with
goals by Leo Ducharme and Don
O'Brien. The Sabre goal was
scored by Peter Proll.
The teams played to a 1-1 tie
in the second period with Don
O'Brien scoring for the Bluewater
and Paul Corriveau for the Sabres.
Again in the final stanza each
team scored two goals Don O'Brier
and Dave Durand scored goals for
the Bluewater and Aubrey Bedard
and Garry [less tallied for the
Sabres.
HENSALL 11 - FARMER'S U, 3
In the other Rec League game
the Hensall Generals took a conv-
incing 11-3 victory over the Farm-
er's Union.
The first period saw the game
stay close as each team scored
one goal. Bill Munn scored for
Hensall while Gerald Shantz
scored for the Farmer's Union.
Hensall took a good lead in the
piddle period scoring five goals.
Bob Carlisle and Charles Dalry-
mple scored twice while Ken
Shale added the extra marker.
The final stanza saw Hensall
outscore their opponents 5-2. Ken
Smale scored three goals for
Hensall with Charles Dalrymple
and Charles Schwalm adding ext-
ra markers. Gerald Shantz scored
both the Farmer Union goals in
the final period.

Lucan opened the scoring in the
second period with Tom Hodgins
scoring at the 10;18 mark. Mc-
Kinley evened the scoring about
one minute later. John Corriveau
then scored for the Co -Ops to
give them a 7-3 lead at the end
of two periods.
Jim Hearn scored the only goal
of the final stanza for Lucan, to
end the garr.e 7-4,
There were sixteen minor pen-
alties called with Lucan drawing
nine and the Co -Ops seven.
CLINTON 8 - CO-OPS 3
Last Wednesday night the Clint-
on Colts downed the Hensall- Zur-
ich Co -Ops 8-3 in the Zurich
Arena.
John McKinley opened the scor-
ing in the first period, but after
that Clinton scored five times
with Bill Stirling getting two, and

singles to Bill Cra),ord, Wayne
Arthur and Stu Mustard.
The only scoring of the second
period came at the 19:09 mark
when Gary Cunnings scored for
Clinton.
In the final stanza the teams
played to a 2-2 tie. Ron Corriv-
eau and John Corriveau were Co -
Op marksmen while Stu Mustard
arid Lawrence Elliott scored for
the visiting Clinton team.
There were 23 penalties with
Zurich drawing 10 and Clinton 3.
This Friday night the Co -Ops
play host to the strong Clinton
Colts in the Zurich Arena, with
the game starting at 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday afternoon in the
Ilensall arena, at 2 p.m., the
Co -Ops will entertain the Mitch-
ell I-Iawks, who are just a few
points ahead of them in the
standings.
