Hensall Leads Zurich Rec League

SABRES'? - MATES 3
On Sunday night in Zurich
Rec League play, the Mates
were downed '7-3 by the Sabres.
First period goals for the
Sabres were scored by Paul Cor-
riveau, Ken Clarke and Peter
Proll. Eric Smale scored a first
period goal for the Mates.
In the second period the Sabres
outscored the Mates 3-2. Paul
Corriveau scored twice for the
Sabres while Ken Clarke scored
the extra marker. Second period
Mate goals were scored by Eric
Smale and Isidore Laporte.
Paul Corriveau scored a third
period goal to assure the Sabres
of their victory.
HENSALL 8 - FLYERS 4
On Thursday night the Hensall
Generals downed the Flyers 8-4.
Hensall out -scored the Flyers
2-1 in the first period with

Dalrymple scored Hensall goals,
while Gord Hay again scored for
the Flyers,
The third period saw both
teams come on strong with Hen-
sall out -scoring their opponents
4-2. Bob Carlisle scored twice
while Len Smale and Rick
Parker added singles for the
Generals. Gord Hay and Paul
Hesse were Mate scorers in the
final stanza.
BLUEWATER 6- FARMER'S U. 5
On Thursday night the Blue -
water edged the Farmer's Union
in a close game with a score of
6-5.
The Farmer's Union took a
first period lead as they out -scor-
ed the Bluewater 2-1.
Gerald Shantz and John Gascho
were the Farmer's Union scorers
in the first period while Dave
Durand accounted for the Blue -
water goal.
The picture turned in the
middle stanza as the Bluewater
Zurich Bantams Remain Undefeated;
Post Victories Over (Clinton and Hensall

During the past week of hockey
the Zurich Bantams have kept
up their high scoring standards
and have posted two more vict-
ories.
ZURICH 11 - CLINTON 3
On Sunday night the Zurich
Bantams travelled to Clinton and
came up with an easy victory as

ing in the first period. Paul Car-
ron tied the game minutes later
only to see Pat Bedard come back
and put Zurich ahead. Randy
Miller tied the game again be-
fore Zurich took over the remaind
er of the period with two goals
by Barry Hess and Gerald Weido,
to give them a 4-2 lead.
Harry Smits opened the scoring
in the second period. John Grah-
am scored Clinton's only goal of
the second to make it 5-3. Pat
Bedard scored twice before the
period ended to give them a
comforting 7-3 lead.
The third period saw Zurich
come out with four big goals
before Clinton scored their final
goal, Pat Bedard scored twice
while Barry Hess and Gerald
Weido added singles in the final
period scoring. Greg Butler
scored the only Clinton goal of
the first period.
There were eight penalties
called with Zurich drawing six
and Clinton three.
ZURICH 13 - HENSALL 2
Last Wednesday night the Zur-
ich Bantams played host to Hen-
sall and dumped them 13-2.
Zurich took a convincing 4-0
lead in the first period with goal
scorers being Pat Bedard with two
goals and Gerald Weido and Brad
Oke scoring one goal each.
The second period saw Zurich
outscore Hensall 4-1. Mike Veal
opened the second period scoring
for Hensall, but after that Zur-
ich took full command with
goals by Richard Mommersteeg,
Gerald Weido, Harry Smits and
George Grenier.
The final period saw Zurich
out -score their opponents 5-1:
Again Hensall opened the scoring
with Rick Ingram scoring their
final goal. Zurich goals in the
last period were all singles,
scored by Ken Regier, Brad Oke,
Pat Bedard, Harry Smits and
Bill Webster.
There were six penalties cal-
led with Zurich drawing five and
Hensall one.

er scored third period goals for
the Farmer's Union, to make it
5-4 in their favor, before the
Flyers came back with goals by
Pliil Overholt, Leo Ducharme
and Dave Durand, to give them
a slight 6-5 victory.

Records Hot Month
A Midwest snowmobile dealer
was overjoyed recently at one-
month sales figures on his ma-
chines which showed more than •
100 of the motorized sleds sold.
The number of machines sold,
although large, is not too un-
usual for one month, but the
period in which the booming
sales figure was recorded was
sultry July!
