Reports were read from all secretaries, treasurers, and convenors showing a very busy and successful year. Mrs. Albert Miller presided for the election of officers: past president, Mrs. Lorne Genttner; president, Mrs. Jim Hayter, vice-president, Mrs. Ernest Koehler; secretary, Miss Helen Nadiger; treasurer, Mrs. John Rader; card secretary, Mrs. Martha Miller; flower and treat fund secretary, Mrs. Albert Miller; librarians, Mrs. Earl Keller and Mrs. Ray Rader; pianist, Miss Helen Nadiger; assistant, Mrs. Marie Restemay- er; auditors, Mrs. Lorne Genttner and Mrs. Marie Restemayer. The Altar Guild for December is Mrs. Hilda Haugh, and Mrs. Laura Datars. Flowers are to be purchased for the altar for Christ- mas and shut-ins boxes are to be packed Sunday, December 20, A Christmas gift of money is to be sent to Parkwood Hospital for a patient there. Cards of thanks were read and donations reported, A short program followed, with Group IV, having Carol and Barbara Rader play piano and accordion selections; Group II, piano selections by Sherrie Stade; Group III a skit, "The Christmas Tarantula", Group I, Christmas carols and lunch. A gift was later presented to Rev. and Mrs. Steinman who are both ill. WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The December meeting of Dashwood Women's Institute was held Tuesday, December 8. This was the Christmas meeting and the directors, Mrs. Hugh Boyle, Mrs. Ervin Devine, and Mrs. Erwin Schade were in charge of the program and Christ, mas lunch. Mrs. Howard Maier, president, dealt with the business. Mrs. Gordon Bender, delegate to the London Area convention in Strat- ford gave an interesting report. A letter and Christmas card from NEWS From St. Boniface Sc'hool (by Steven Bedour and Marc Gel - Inas) On Sunday, November 22, St, Boniface School held a baz- aar for the missions in Peru. Proceeds thtalled $350. our adopted girl in India was on display. It was also reported that Mrs. H. Boyle was making a scrap book of our adopted girls which was also on display. The ladies were reminded of 4- H Achievement Day. A donation was made to the Men's Club Christmas party for the children. Court Whist was played with Mrs. Gordon Bender receiving top prize and Mrs. O.A. Todd low. Mrs. Eben Weigand and her daughter Norma showed pict-i ures on their trip to the East Coast this past summer. Lunch and an exchange of gifts with secret pals brought the evening to a close. Obituary MRS, FREDERICK SCHLUNDT Mrs. Frederick Schlundt, the former Louisa Ziler, of Dash- wood, passed away at her res- idence in Dashwood on Thurs. day, December 10, in her 87th year. Surviving axe two nieces, Mrs. Laura Weida, of Dashwood and Mrs. Elda Wagner, of Zur- ich; two nephews, Herbert Stephan, of Goderich, and Leonard Becker, of Hay Town- ship. The funeral service was held at the T. Harry Hoffman Fun- eral Home, Dashwood, on Sat- urday, December 18, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Reinhardt with interment in the Dashwood Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ervin and Lloyd Devine, Lloyd Willert, Oscar Miller, Aaron Restemayer and Vernon Schatz. Santa Claus will be in Dash- wood on Wednesday, December 23, at 2 p. m. at the commun- ity Centre, with treats for the children. Wendy Jean, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Booge- mans was baptized in Zion Lutheran church Sunday afternoon by Rev. L. Elfert, Stratford. Sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Ken Genttner. Mrs. Delmar Miller attended the Farmer's Union Convention in Winnipeg last week. Her little son Christopher spent the week with grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. Harvey Tedball, Forest Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Gould, Windsor, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. 13111 Chandler and boys. Mrs. Richard Rader, of Goder- ich, was a lucky winner of $150. worth of clothing at the Fashion Shop, Goderich. Friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Grenier Sunday even- ing for a three way celebration. It was Mr. and Mrs. A. Grenier's 23rd wedding anniversary, their daughter Rose Rader's birthday, and the departure of their neph- ew Gerard Grenier who has joined the arrny and is stationed at Corn. wallis, Nova Scotia. VISIT SCIENCE CENTRE On Tuesday, December 1, at 9 a. m. grades six, seven and eight, left for Toronto to visit the Ontario Science Centre, where they were given the chance to'touch scientific exhibits and listen to a lecture on perception. RELIGIOUS DEMONSTRATION On Thursday, December 10, from 7:30 to 9 in the evening, the primary grade held a dem- onstration to explain the new catechism. Many parents attend- ed it. THE CHRISTMAS ASSEMBLY To celebrate Christmas, the students of St. Boniface are pres- enting a Christmas concert, Par- ents are expected to attend the program, on Thursday, Decemb- er 17,. The Government of Ontario's Tax Assistance Plan is helping the elderly. Cheques have already been sent to more than 230,000 people: and many will soon receive additional assistance. Paying taxes is tough for everyone. But some people have a particularly difficult time. Like the elderly. They are hard-pressed by rising property taxes. To help lighten their Toad, the Government has introduced a new plan. It is called 1970 Tax Assistance for the Elderly. The plan will pay out up to $100 to help elderly people —those who receive the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement—to help pay their property taxes, or rent. In all, more than 230,000 persons across Ontario will, receive $17 million in benefits. 1970 Tax Assistance for the elderly is an immediate step to relieve the pressure of property taxes.
