Miss Clare McGowan (centre) received a beautiful clock from
the foster parents of the county of Huron recently. It was
presented by Mrs. Jack Scott (left) and Mrs. Garth Hamilton,
both foster mothers. The gift was tied with a wide white
ribbon upon which was typed the names of all the foster parents
who shared in the thoughtful expression to Miss McGowan.
The foster parents who are presently attempting to form a
Foster Parents Association fondly remember Miss McGowan
when she was director of the Huron County Children's Aid
Society. (Signal Star Photo)

Ladies' Auxiliary to Rest Home Hold
Christmas Meeting With Residents
Twenty-five members of the
Ladies Auxiliary to the Blue -
water Rest Home, along with
the residents of the Home, were
delighted with the annual visit
of Santa Claus to the Rest Home
during the monthly meeting of
the Auxiliary on Wednesday
evening, December 2. Mrs. Grete
Erb and her committee were in
charge of the program and delic-
ious refreshments.
Mrs. Steve Gingerich, Mrs.
Curtis Gingerich; Miss Dorothy
Steckle, Mrs. Calvin Gingerich,
Mrs. Harold Soper, and Mrs.
Keith Gingerich sang a number
of favourite Christmas songs.
Greta Erb read an inspiring Christ•
mas poem entitled "May all you
wish be there."
The committee in charge port-
rayed "The Shepher's Poem, "
while the ladies sextette sang
"While Shepherds watched their
Flocks by night, " and "Silent
Night, Holy Night."
The group was also entertained
by some of the Mozart Gelinas
family as they sang and played
their guitars. Then, of course,
Santa Claus came and presented
each resident with a silver dollar
and a corsage, on behalf of the
Auxiliary members.
In the business meeting the
group had very favourable reports
from the annual bazaar, tea and

Ontario Apples
For 'Christmas
Rosy red skins and snowy white
flesh make Ontario apples per-
fect for Christmas. Crisp, tart,
tangy apples add color and eye -
appeal to appetizers and trays
of horsd'oevres. Slices of red -
skinned apple decorated with
whole cloves make a seasonal
garnish to float in the punch
bowl.
To fill the punch bowl, home
economists at the Ontario Dep-
artment of Agriculture and Food
suggest a specially good spiced
apple juice punch, served hot
or cold. Heat apple juice with
cloves, cinnamon, sugar, and ,
thin slices of lemon. Another
punch recipe combines apple
and cranberry juice, a little
cinnamon, and sugar to taste.
