Mitchell opened the scoring in the first period with a goal from Jim Avery. At the 18:27 mark Rod Chapman tied the game for Zurich only to see Glen Nicholson, of 'Mitchell push them into a led seconds later. Before the period ended Rick Schilbe banged in the tying goal.. The only scoring of the sec- ond period was a goal from Fred Elder, on a passing play with Aubrey Bedard. The final period saw Zurich come on strong scoring two goals before Mitchell finally found the range for three big goals. Zurich goals were account ed for by Cohn McKinley and Shane McKinhon. Mitchell's goals were scored by Don Hish- Zurich Peewees Tie Clinton (by Doug Turkheim) Last Wednesday night the Zurich Pee Wee's met Clinton in a game that ended in a 3-3 tie. Clinton took an early 1-0 lead with a goal from Norm Colqu- houn, his first of the game, They were able to hold this lead until 19:55 of the second period when Wayne Clarke scored his first goal to tie the game. Clinton again took the lead early in the final stanza with Norm Colquhoun scoring again, Minutes later Teff O'Brien tied the score 2-2. At the half -way mark Clinton scored their final goal with Pete Preistop taking credit. The final goal of the game came at 12:45 when Wayne Clarke scored to end the game at 3-3. There were six penalties cal- led with Clinton drawing five and Zurich one. BLUEWATER 4 - SABRES 2 Thursday night the Bluewater edged the Sabres 4-2. The Sabre goals were both in the first period, scored by Paul Corriveau and Leo Debus. Phil Overholt's first period goal was the only scoring until the third period, when Ron Overholt knocked in two goals and Don Geiger one. HENSALL 7 -FARMER'S U. 6 Thursday night the 1-lensall team downed the Farmer's Union by a slim 7-6 score. FIensall's attack was led by Bob Carlile and Murray Baker with two goals each, while singles went to Rick Parker, Mur- ray Bell and Charles Schwalm. The Farmer's Union goals were two sets of hat tricks going to Gerald Shantz and Tim Consitt, MATES 4 - FLYERS 4 On Sunday night the Mates and the Flyers battled to a 4-4 tie, The Mates' goals were scored by Isidore Laporte and Martin Vandubiek, with a pair of goals each, Flyers goals were accounted for by Paul Hesse with two, and singles going to Tim Decker and Mahlon Martin. ---n Election Battle (continued from page 1) he has been a member of the advisory board of St, Boniface Church for the past few years. He added that there was quite a bit of high-priced help in the Clinton office, but he felt they were well worth their money. The retiring separate school representative, Daniel Murphy, also spoke briefly, stating that he had enjoyed the work but found it too demanding of his time. Returning officer Wayne C. The only Zurich goal came in the first period with Brian Campbell being the marksman. The first period saw Exeter tal<e a 5-1 lead which was increased to 8-1 by the end of the second stanza. The final period saw Exeter score three more times to end the score at 11-1, Exeter goal scorers were Pete Kleinstiver and Ron Janke, with a hattrick each, followed closely by Pete Glover with two, Singles were scored by Steve Murely, Larry Laye and Ron Lindenfield, There were 22 penalties called in the game with Exeter drawing 10 and the Co -Ops 12. Zurich Intermediates Down Wingham in First Game of Regular Schedule (by Doug Turkheim) Last Tuesday night the Zurich Intermediate C Entry won their first game by a thrilling 9-5 score, as they downed Wingham. The first period saw Wingham take a 2-0 lead but before the period ended George Suplat scored Zurich's first goal. Wingham took a 4-1 lead in the second period before Kevin McKinnon scored his first of four goals, to end the second period at 4-2, Before the four minute mark of the final period Glen Over- holt and Bob Merner scored for Zurich to tie up the game, Again Wingham tool< a one -goal lead but after the midway mark Zurich took over, scoring five goals. Marksmen in the last period were Glen Overholt and Fred Lamb, who scored the tying and winning goals before Kevin McKinnon banged in three cons- ecutive goals to give Zurich a sure victory. There were 21 penalties hand- ed out in the game with Winghar drawing 11 and Zurich 10. There were four five minute major penalties and one 10 -minute mis- conduct. 0 SENIOR BOWLING Hi -Hopes - C.
