Varna Couple
Honoured On
35th Anniversary
Mr, and Mrs, Cecil Dowson
were honoured by their family
on the occasion of their 35th
wedding anniversary, on Sat-
urday evening. They were esc-
orted to the Hensall Hotel for a
lovely dinner, Later they enjoy-
ed a pleasant evening in Varna
Township Hall with relatives,
playing progressive Euchre,
George Rowson played the
violin accompanied by Mary
Moffat on the piano, and Dianne
Consitt step -danced.
The attendants of 35 years
ago were Mrs. Fred Vodden and
George Dowson, and they were
also present. Their son Doug,
presented them with a gift of
money from the family. Many
other nice gifts and money were
presented to them from relatives
and friends.
Mr. and Mrs, Dowson thanked
everyone for the gifts and money
also for celebrating this lovely
event with them. Lunch was
served and wedding cake was
passed by Mr. and Mrs, .Dowson.
Guests were present from
Pontiac Michigan, Lambeth, St,
Thomas, London, Lucan, Exeter,
i-Iensall, Zurich, Kippen and
Varna.

Goshen United Church Women
Elect New Slate of Officers For 1971
Mrs. Howard Armstrong was
hostess for the November meet-
ing of the Goshen United Church
Women, Mrs, Brian Lempiere,
in charge of the program, took
for her theme "Peace" from
Psalm 37 and 14th chapter John,
Mr. Morrison spoke on Eternal
Life with Mrs, Clare McBride
and Mrs. Jim Keys reading
scriptures.
Business was conducted by
Mrs. Anson McKinley. Minutes
were read and approved, Roll
call was answered by reading a
line of hymn 41, The last two
verses were read in unison. Sev-
eral reports were given. Thank -
you cards were read from Roy
McBride and Mrs. rohn Robinson.
Mrs. Melvin Elliott moved
that the UCW get poinsettas
for the shut-ins at Christmas,
and this was seconded by Mrs.
Bob McKinley. ivirs, Bob Peck
moved the group bring a gift
for Christmas to the December
meeting, and it was seconded
by Mrs. Elmer Hayter, Mrs,
Elmer Hayter moved a vote of
thanks to Mrs. Anson McKinley
while being president.
Mr. Morrison had charge of
the election of officers, I -Ie
thanked the ladies for the work
done during the year, New of-
ficers are: president, Mrs, Arn-
old Keys; first vice-president,
Mrs, rack Eckel; recording sec-
retary, Mrs, Bert McBride;
corresponding secretary, Mrs,
Jack Eckel, Mrs. Howard Arm-
strong; treasurer, Mrs. Jim Keys,
