Kippen East Wo men's Institute Hear
Details of Canning Processes
I<ippen East Women's Institute
met Wednesday evening at the
home of Mrs. Ernest Whitehouse,
with Mrs. Robert Bell as co -
hostess.
President Mrs. Robert Bell
presided and opened the meeting
with the Institute Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect. The roll call
was answered with "are synthet-
ic materials competing with
wool and why?"
Mrs. Dave Triebner tools the
chair for the program and she
introduced the guest speaker, L.
Urquhart, of Canadian Canners
Exeter. He gave a very inform-
ative talk on the canning proc-
ess of peas and also explained
the different grades. This was
followed by a question period.
Mr. Urquhart presented each
member with a can of corn and
peas. He was thanked by Mrs.
Triebner and presented with a
gift of appreciation,
The 4-11 Girls Club, their
mothers and leaders were guests.
The 4-11 girls presented a skit
on "First Aid."
The motto "If your efforts
are criticized you have done
something worth talking about"
was given by Mrs, llarry Cald-
well. Reports were given on
Ilistorical Research and current
events by Mrs, V. Alderdice;
citizenship and Education by
Mrs, R. Bell; Agriculture and
Canadian Industries by Mrs. Ken
McKay; and Home Economics
and Health by Mrs. Mike Con
nelly. The treasurer's report,
and a report on the area convent-
ion at Stratford were given by
Mrs, 1larry Caldwell.
Mrs, Grant McLean presented
gifts of appreciation to Mrs.
Edison McLean and Miss Donna
Whitehouse for their leadership
of the 4-H girls Club. A contest
Canadian Industries was cond-
ucted by Mrs. Triebner.

Mr, and Mrs. llarold Bell and
Helen, Mr, and Mrs. Kenneth
Ardiell, London, Mr. and Mrs,
Gordon Troyer and Mrs, Flor-
ence Joynt, were guests Thurs-
day evening of last week with
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle.

Christmas Party
Amber Rebekah Lodge met
for their regular meeting on Wed.
nesday, November 18, presided
over by Noble Grand Mrs. rack
Taylor, assisted by Vice Grand
Mrs. Elizabeth Riley. There
was a splendid attendance.
Two donations were given,
one to the Christmas party fund
at the I, 0 O.F. , Barrie, and
one to the Children's Aid Society
at Goderich, It was decided to
have a Christmas Lodge Party
at the first meeting on Wednes-
day, December 2, with exchange
of gifts among members, Social
entertainment committee will
be in charge of the evenings'
entertainment.
It was decided to choose up
sides of members for an attend-
ance record, to create better
interest in meetings. with the
losing side to be responsible to
provide a night's entertainment,
Captains appointed were Mrs,
Elizabeth Riley and Mrs. Jack
Taylor,
