ifies in writing that he or she
would like to see the subject
discussed again. Then if by a
two-thirds majority this board
agrees to re -open the question,
it will be discussed again. That's
all we can do at this time."
Jim Taylor, Hensall, told the
board he would move to have
the subject re -opened.
"I wasn't in favor of the dec-
ision made by this board anyway.
stated Taylor.
"Nomination day is coming up'
said Don Gaiser, Dashwood, also
a member of the Stephen deleg-
ation. "The people have made
it known they are willing to
drive their children to school.
You say, No. You have to ride
on our yellow buses. Don't you
think that's a little ridiculous?"
"We've let down all the people
in Stephen because we've gone
and upset the apple cart, " cont-
inued Gaiser. "We've really
loused things up."
At this point, Mr. Lavis closed
off the discussion reiterating the
hope, the subject would be re-
opened before the end of the
year.
Hog Trailers
Mobile trailer homes for hogs,
which have caught on in the
United States, may soon bring
a touch of luxury to Ontario's
swine industry.
Professor K. Pos, School of
Engineering, University of
Guelph, says that up to 100 hogs
can be housed in mobile trailers
which look exactly like house
trailers except that they have
no windows. The trailers are fron-
10 to 12 feet wide, and from 40
to 60 feet long. They cap be
towed from place to place as
they are required, or if the site
of an operation changes.
"Actually, " says Professor Pos,
"the word 'mobile' is misleading,
Generally the trailers only move
once -- right after manufacture.

Once they are sited, they stay
in one spot."
Some trailers are fitted with
an oxidation ditch to cope with
waste disposal and odor control,
An oxidation ditch is an oval,
racetrack -shaped ditch, about
18 inches deep, which is attach'
ed to the underside of the trailer
and in which waste is stored, At
the surface of each ditch is a
mechanical rotor that aerates the
liquid waste, controlling the ditcl
odors, The ditch is emptied regul.
arly and the wastes run off under
supervision. To allow for compl-
ete waste storage, each trailer is
fitted with a fully slatted floor,
Hogs are housed on one side of
the trailer, with a passageway
running along the other side.
Each pen is fitted with complete
feed and water facilities.
Messengers Meet
Messengers of Zurich United

church basement. After the
meeting in the sanctuary for a
hymn and prayer, they returned

Several bymns were sung. The
offering was taken and the roll
call was answered by everyone
telling why they are happy.
Tracey Erb sang a solo, "Little
Drops of Water." Jane Huether
and Christine Bleck sang a duet,
"Father we Thank Thee." The
theme for the study period was
"Happy , Blessed, " which is the
theme for the United Church
