He told the board that to his know- ledge, every child who was eligible for kindergarten classes was attending this year despite the fact that parents are resp- onsible for transportation one way. It was John Henderson, Mc- Killop, who first questioned the cost of the additional service. He learned there were no firm figures established as to the cost of such a service if it was implement county- wide. Gordon Moir, Wingham, not- ed that in Howick Township, for instance, one bus at the noon - hour would not be sufficient to transport the kindergarten young- sters because of the geographical distances. He said the board would need three or four buses. Moir suggested that a cost study be completed and approv- ed before any final decision on the matter is reached. The pumpkin is more than a child's delight however; last year 28, 700, 000 pounds of pumpkin was produced for Ontario's food processing industry not to mention of course all those great pumpkins that suddenly became Jack-o'-lanterns to scare all those spooks away. The Moncur Scholarships were also approved by the board. At least $48, 703.25 has been be- queathed from the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Miller Mon - cur, Peterborough. In accordance with the wills of Mr. and Mrs. Moncur, the residue of their estates is to be held by the board in trust for the South Huron District High School, and to be invested by the board as a perpetual trust. The interest of the investments is to be used each year for two scholarships - one for a boy and one for a girl graduating from the South Huron Distrcit High School - on such terms and conditions as the board shall decide. The board agreed that the principal of SHDHS and member of his staff be appointed a com- mittee to recommend to the board the terms and conditions for avarding the Moncur Schol- arships.
