Release Schedule
For Junior Team

OHA Junior D series, has held
two practices in the last couple
of days, in an attempt to get

confident they will be in shape
for the opening game, which is
scheduled for the I-lensall Arena.
The team will alternate home
games between the Hensall and
Zurich Arenas throughout the
season.

affecting the Co -Ops is as fol-

DREDGE CLEANS OUT DITCH FOR NEW METAL CULVERT

Steel Culverts
Replace Cement
Steel culverts to replace cern-
ent bridges are constantly be -
corning more popular throughout
Ontario, as many municipalities
adopt the speedier method of
replacement. Hay Township is
among many townships which
have installed large steel cul-
verts in recent months, to re-
place a bridge.
The photos to the right show
the work carried out in installing
a large 60- foor culvert, which
weighed well over ten tons, on
the 16th concession of Hay Town-
ship. Considerable work has
gone into straightening out the
road and eliminating several
dangerous spots on this stretch
of road.
In the top photo road superint-
endent, Karl Haberer and crew-
man Frank Dietrich watch as a
large dredge excavates dirt from
the bottom of the creek to make
way for the large culvert. The
middle photo shows Haberer,
Dietrich and grader operator Gord
on Smith fastening a chain arounc
the culvert so the same dredge
could pick it up and move it,
while the bottom picture shows
the new unit practically in place.
The whole operation took less
than one hour to complete.
Cost wise, officials claim the
steel culverts are more econom-
ical than the old cement bridge.
