The Milk Com- mission of Ontario will pay the Transportation Assistance sub- sidy to the Ontario Milk Market- ing Board uponreceipt of proof that plants have in fact taken advantage of the program, and involved themselves in such agreements. In announcing this new prog- ram, Mr. Stewart stated: "This program should compl- ement the Milk Plant Consolid- ation Assistance Program which we introduced only last week, and will provide for the contin- ued existence of the smaller plants that are only able to op- erate profitably on a seasonal basis. The extra assistance will allow them to maintain their plants during the winter period of low milk production, and to return to serve -the industry in the peak summer months. Be- cause the industrial milk ind- ustry is so important. to Ontario, we are providing assistance and encouragement, through these two programs, during a period of adjustment and consolidation."
