Tractor Problem Faces Hensall Council
ments of the department regard-
ing dumps.
Council felt it may be just
as simple to look after their own
than to get into areaagreements.
However, the subject was left
open for the time being until
more is learned about conditions
The times for open hours at the
dump have been altered on
Mondays from 1 p, m, to 6 p.m.
and the same hours on Saturdays
from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m,
The clerk informed council
that a gentleman has inquired
regarding the oil stove and tank
out of the Fire Hall and council
requested the clerk to sell same
for the sum of $25. Councillor
Knight having been absent at
the time of E, R, Davis' report,
asked council if certain propert-
ies had been serviced in so far
as weeds are concerned, but
was told that the weeds are still
there. Knight was very disappoinr
ed as the location is very unsighe
ly, It is in the vicinity of an
old smoke stack which in itself
is an eye -sore.
Council discussed the possibil-
ity of the council having the
smoke stack removed and were
told that it could cost several
hundred dollars. In the meantim(
each member is going to inquire
into the possibility of having
someone remove same.
Reeve Jaques and councillor
Knight had attended a meeting
on regional development and
neither was satisfied that the
small municipalities were being
considered for future develop-
ment. Councillor Knight was
very discouraged and intends

that if they are not going to help
theesmalhmuntcipalities, 'then
the latter will have to stand up
and fight for their own rights and
be recognized.
He stated that there is a pop-
ulation drain on Hensel' but
that "we also have great indust-
ries here and much to build for,
but the way things are now, we
cannot annex land or•look for
too much help in the future for
expansion in Hensall, "
Knight is to have the Industria
commission assist in drafting a
letter to the Department of Ec-
onomics, MODA and keep one
copy for the council. Knight
summed up his remarks by stat-
ing that if they do not receive
reasonable answers, then other
small municipalities should be
contacted for their support.
