Two Skaters Last
30 Hours In Big
Rollathon
The big Rollathon at the Zurich
Arena on the weekend, sponsored
by the Zurich Recreation League,
ended in a draw early Sunday
morning when officials of the
League declared it a tie between
two area youths, Wayne Oke and
Paul Truemner. The two youths
completed 30 hours of continuous
roller skating at two o'clock
Sunday morning, after starting at
eight o'clock on Friday night.
Both were declared winners when
officials were concerned for the
health of the two youths and cal-
led it a draw.
Close to 30 persons entered the
Rollathon and were sponsored by
various people in the community,
some earning as high as $17 an
hour for the Recreation League,
in their efforts.
In the junior class Billy Hay was
declared the winner, completing
a total of 18 hours of skating. Tim
' Decker won the senior class with

his credit, while the other two
boys tied and were the winners
in the intermediate class.
Billy Hay also had the distinct-
ion of bringing in the most money
for the project, as he earned well
over $300 for the Rec League.
While there was no separate
class for the girls Debbie Denom-
me, of Zurich, skated a total of
19 hours.
The youngest skater in the comp.
etition was Bobby Hay, with seven
hours skating to his credit, while
the oldest was Richard Thiel, who
lasted about 14 hours.
