News Along The Shore of Beautiful Lake Huron
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Ducharme
have been visited by Mrs. Marge
Peladeau and family, of Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bedard, of
Berkley, Michigan, spent Labor
Day weekend at Ducharmes.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ducharme
spent the week at a cottage in
Bayfield and also called on the
1Ducharmes.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim. Hogg were
visited by Mrs. Hogg's cousin
and her husband, Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Wittingharn, of Winnipeg,
Manitoba last weekend.
Mr. and Mrs, Leonard Sopha,
of Elgin Illinois; Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Sopha, of Detroit; Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Sopha, of Wind -
Most Schools in Huron County
Report Enrolment Down From 1969
Enrolment figures presented
last Tuesday evening to the Huron
County Board of Education show
that fewer students are enrolled in
schools throughout the county this
year than last year.
Enrolment in elementary school
under the board's jurisdiction has
dropped by 21 students while there
are 15 fewer students registered
this year for classes at the county's
f!ve secondary schools than last
year.
Director of education John Coch;
rane did point out to the board
that enrolment in the secondary
schools could rise in the month of
September and possibly even Oct-
ober as senior students, for instance
return from summer employment.
Enrolment is up from 40 to 42
in the county's three schools for
the retarded.
A final tally presented at the
meeting showed than enrolment
in all of Huron's schools is down
by 34 students.
"For all intents and purposes, "
observed Mr. Cochrane, "we are
about the same this year as last
year in Huron."

Township, "that although we will
have more board members, we
have less children to administer."
Elliott was referring to notific-
ation from Huron County Council
that two additional school board
members will be elected in the
county at fall elections.
In other business, the board
hired Mrs. Jane Silcock, of Lond-
n for Usborne Central P. S , and
engaged Mrs. Joan Talbot as a
part-time female custodian at
South Huron District High School.

Unit 2 Tours
Boise -Cascade
After a very interesting tour
through the Boise -Cascade trail-
er plant Monday evening, Unit
II of the UCW of Hensel]. United
Church, with Units I and IV as
guests, met in the Fellowship
Hall of the church. Mrs. Rodger
Venner welcomed everyone after
which Mrs. Ilarold Currie led in
a lively sing -song.
The devotional, taken by Mrs.
Ron Wareing, was centered main-
ly on a tiny mustard seed, who
stated, "If you have faith as big
as a mustard seed you can do
anything." Mrs. Grant MacLean
favoured with a very humorous
reading.
General meeting will be held
on September 28. Mrs. Rodger
Veneer very capably gave an
interesting and inspiring talk on
her trip to Alma College, the
theme being, "Man's Dilemma -
" God's Plan."
- DASHWOOD Meeting closed with prayer and
everyone enjoyed a delicious
lunch.

Mr. and Mrs. George Harvey,
of Detroit, spent a few days at
their summer home..
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mernovage
spent the weekend at their cottage
at Ducharme Beach. They return-
ed back to Detroit on Sunday,
taking Mrs. Mernovage's sister,
Miss Sherry Jeffrey, who will bd
returning Wednesday with Mrs.
Mernovage.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ewasick
and family spent the weekend at
their cottage along the 14th con-
cession of Dearborne Heights,
Michigan.
Robert Cantin and two friends
from Royal Oak, Michigan spent
the weekend at their cottage at
Cantin Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Pierre Cantin
and family, of Detroit were also
at their cottage at Cantin Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ross, of
Toronto spent the weekend, at
their cottage at Bayview.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bedard,
of Detroit, also spent the week-
end at their cottage at Bayview.
Mrs. Anna Primeau, of Chicago,
is spending a couple of weeks at
her sisters Mrs. Louise Cantin.
