Miss Sharon Rader spent a week
in London with Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Howe and girls.
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Keller
have returned home from a three-
week trip by air to British Columb-
ia, where they visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Eugene Keller and fam-
ily at Delton, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Sanders at Burnaby, and Mr. and
Mrs. Jake Martens and family at
Comox.
Misses Wendy and Michele
Webb, of Goderich spent some
time with Mr. and Mrs. Sid Baker
while their parents vacationed in
the West.
Misses Brenda and Charlotte
Miller, of Zion spent some time
with their grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Irvin Rader.
Mrs. George Penn, Frank and
Karen left for New Jersey after
holidaying With Mr. and Mrs.
Oluf. Petersen, Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Manual, John and Larry, of Lond-
on, and Miss Karen Darden were
weekend visitors.
Mrs. Leo Wilson, of California
and Mrs. Lorne Klopp, of Zurich
called on Mr. and Mrs. Oluf
Petersen last week.
Mrs. Leeland Restemayer is a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
RADER PICNIC
The 22nd Rader picnic was
held Sunday September 6, at
Dashwood Community Centre.
President, Glen Rader welcomed
everyone and sports were cond-
ucted by Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Tay-
lor. Winners were Michael Bills;
John Whittier; Jayne Hayter;
Sharon Rader; skipping, Larry
Weiberg; ring bottle, Brian Bills;
kick football, Brian Rader; kick
shoe, Joe Merner and Jayne Hayt-
er; pick up oranges, Ivlrs. Glen
Rader; wheelbarrow race, Sharon
Rader and Marlene Taylor, sev-
eral relays were also enjoyed.
Mrs. Garnet Weiberg was in
charge of a supper barbecue at
which time several special prizes
were awarded. Lucky plate, Mich•
ael Bills; guessing age of cheese,
Mrs. Vyrne Weido; birthdate near-
est picnic, Emma Wein; oldest
person, Mrs. Hilda Wein; most
recently married, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Wein; youngest person,
Heather Rader; coming the farth-
est, Dr. and Mrs. A .C. Whittier.
Officers for 1971 are: president,
Albert Rader; vice-president,
Garnet Weibert; secretary -treas-
urer, Mrs. A.C. Whittier, sports
convenor, Elgin Rader family;
table convenor, Mrs. Albert Rader.,
The picnic will be held next year
at the same time.
Present Program
At Rest Home
Auxiliary Meeting,
The first fall meeting of the
Ladies Auxiliary to the Bluewater
Rest Home was held on Wednes-
day evening, September 2, at
8 p.m., and was very well attend,
ed by the members as well as
residents of the home. Mrs. Ther-
esa Stark and her committee were
in charge of the programme and
refreshments.
A trio of guitarists, Dianne
Ducharme, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Ducharme, Danny
Overholt, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Overholt, and Gary Duch-
arme, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ger-
ard Ducharme, all of Zurich, de-
lighted their audience with the
following selections; Glory to the
Father, One Has My Name, I
Still Miss Someone, Teach your
Children, Snake Crawl at Night,
and Me and Bobby McGee.
Raymond Mathonia, son of Mr.
and Mrs. George Mathonia, play-
ed the following numbers on his
accordian, Isle of Capri, Yellow
Bird, There's Another Lily Mil -
and, I Like to go out Wandering;
much to the enjoyment of the
group.
After light refreshments, the
members of the Auxiliary met in
the Craft Room for their business
meeting. It was learned that the
Auxiliary had another successful
year with their booth at the Bean
Festival. Four step -stools to be
used iu the bathrooms have been
purchased for the Home by the
Auxiliary and are very much appre
ciated by the nursing staff.
Iosef Risi, superintendent,
thanked the Auxiliary members
for the stools on behalf of the
board.

Charlies, Barbers Meet in Finals
BARBERS DEFEAT GINGERICHS
The Barber Boys recorded their
first win of the round robin semi-
finals by virtue of a 15-9 victory,
over Gingerich's Sales and Service
who suffered their second straight
defeat.
With the score tied 7-7 the
Barbers exploded for eight runs in
the fourth inning and thus clinch-
ed the victory.
Phil Overholt and Shane Mc-
Kinnon hurled for the winners
while Rick Shantz and Clifford
Gingerich tossed for the losers.
Doug O'Brien had two hits for
the winners while George Suplat,
Bob Merner, Shane McKinnon and
Phil Overholt had one hit apiece.
Leading the attack for Ginger-
ich's was Glen Gascho with two
hits, while Lloyd Lostell, John
Gascho, Norm Koehler, Tony
Bedard and Rick Shantz each had
one.
BARBERS EDGE CHARLIES
The Barber Boys recorded their
second win of the round-robin
series as they edged Charlies Auto
Sales 15-14. The Barbers scored
five runs in the first inning only
to have Charlie's score eight runs
in the second.
However, the Barbers rallied
for six runs in the fifth and never
looked back. Charlie's scored one
run in the seventh but could not
tie up the game.
Phil Overholt and Jim Bedard
shared the pitching chores for the
Barbers and picked up the victory.
CHARLIE'S ELIMINATE
GINGERIC H'S
In a thrilling contest in which
Kevin McKinnon and Rick Shantz
locked up in a tight pitcher's dual,
Charlie's edged Gingerich's 2-1
on McKinnon's seventh inning
single, that scored Pete Regier
from third base.
McKinnon allowed only five
hits while Shantz yielded eight
hits. Rick Schilbe, Rick Turkheim
and Kevin McKinnon knocked out
two hits each while Dave Stark
and Gerry Rader had singles.
James Ramer and Ron Parsons had
two hits apiece while John Gascho
had one for Gingerich's
FINALS START TONITE
Charlie's Auto Sales and the
Barber Boys start the, finals tonight
(Thursday) in the best of seven
series. Zurich Area bookies say
wagers must be placed one hour
before game time.
