BARBER BOYS LEAD SERIES
After playing three games in
their best -of -five playoff series
with the Bluewater BP's, the
league champion Barber Boys are
one game ahead of their oppon-
ents. The Barber Boys took a
one -game lead by virtue of a 20-
5 victory in the first match of
the series, only to see the Blue -
water crew bounce back with a
well -executed 7-5 victory in the
second contest. However the
Barbers seemed to regain their
first game form as they posted
a 15-5 win over the BP's last Sun-
day night.
Last night , these two teams
clashed agin and a Barber Boy
victory would mean elimination
for the BPs. However, if the Blue -
water can repeat their second -
game performance the outcome
of the series will not be known
until Sunday.
Phil Overholt and Shane Mc-
Kinnon have been combining
their talents on the mound for
the Barbers, while Brian Hodgins
has done the pitching chores for
the Bluewater.
GINGERICHS WIN SERIES
By virtue of a convincing 19-1
victory last Wednesday night,
Gingerich's have advanced into
the round-robin semi-final series
after eliminating the Farmer's
Union in three straight games,
Led by John Gascho's three hits
and Richard Shantz's fine pitch-
ing effort, which included five
strike -outs and only five hits
given up, Gingerichs completely
dominated play from the begin-
ning of the game,
Gary Gingerich and Don Parsons
each had two hits, including a
two -bagger apiece, while Rick
Shantz, Tony Bedard, Glen
Gascho, and Lloyd Lostell also
contributed to the batting assault.
LEFTOVERS DUMP CIIARLIES
In a thrilling 10 -inning contest
on Sunday night, Ken Clarke's
Leftovers outscored Charlie's Auto
Sales in the 10th inning to post
an important 10-6 victory and
take a 2-1 lead in the series,
Charlies took an early 1-0 lead
only to fall back 3-2 by the end
of the third. however, in the
seventh inning Charles scored
three runs to the leftovers two, to
even the score at 5-5, and send
the game into extra innings, Both
teams threatened to score in both
the eighth and ninth innings, but
could not push across the winning
run, In the tenth, the roof fell
in and Charlies went home dis-
appointed, angry, disgusted, and
dejected, but although down, not
out.
CHARLIE'S BOMBARD LEFTOVERS
Facing elimination Charlie's
Auto Sales rallied to record an
overwhelming 38-4 victory over
the Leftovers and force a fifth
and deciding game which has
been placed.
Charlies' scored 20 big runs in
the first inning as they put to-
gether many hits and countless
walks given up by various pitch-
ers. The winner of this series will
advance into the round-robin
semi-final series.
