Green Acres Farm Popular
Attraction at Bean Festival

afternoon.
Other booths sold home-made
bread, cheese, festival souvenirs,
packaged white and kidney beans
and honey.
Two groups, the Acadians and
the German -Canadian band, of
London, provided continuous
entertainment throughout the
afternoon. The Zurich Centen-
nial Band also played several
times throughout the afternoon,
A horseshoe tournament at the
Community Park again proved to
be quite popular, and over $200
was awarded in prize money, along
with other gifts and prizes. Top
prizes went to men from Hensall,
Crediton, Grand Bend, Staffa
Mitchell, Petersburg, Exeter and
Dashwood areas.
Another popular attraction at
this year's festival was the pony
races, which were held at the
old fairgrounds. Results of the
races are published elsewhere in
this issue.
The Zurich Lions Club sponsor-
ed a successful rummage sale at
the arena, and this also drew a
large crowd of spectators,
To wind up the evening, a
monster fireworks display was set
off at dusk,
CFPL radio station conducted
a live broadcast from the village,
between the hours of ten in the
morning and three in the afternoo
with Bruce Love and the "Love
Affair, "
