AUGUST, 1920
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wurm, of
Crediton spent the weekend in
Zurich with friends and relatives,
Mr, Gundel, of the Hall Dent
2ornpany in London, was in town
ast week making arrangements to
close down the operation of the
plant here in Zurich.
The eight-year-old daughter
of Mrs. T. Corriveau had the mis-
fortune to break her collarbone
on Monday. The little girl was
engaged in milking a cow, which
became ornary and kicked her.
Mrs. S, Beaker and Miss Louise
Rarich, of the 14th concession,
are visiting with friends and rel-
atives in Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs. Tohn Gascho and
family, of Lansing, Michigan,
,re visiting relatives here this week.
In a closely contested game
here on the local diamond on
Tuesday night, Zurich won the
South -Huron League title by de-
feating Crediton 6-4.
Rev. R M Geiger, of Rock-
wood delivered a very inspiring
sermon in the Evangelical church
last Sunday evening.

AUGUST, 1930
Mr. Albert Siebert and C,
Fritz are away to Sky Lake fish-
ing.
Mr. and Mrs. R.F, Stade
spent the weenend at Marine City,
Michigan.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hess and
Mr. and Mrs. Wes Merner and
Catherine took a trip to Stratford
on Wednesday morning.
Mr. Rowe, the new principal
of the Zurich Continuation School,
of Manitoulin Island, and accomp
anied by his father, arrived in
town on Wednesday, and they are
getting settled for the re -opening
of school, on Tuesday of next
week.
Mr. Lloyd Klopp is recovering
rom an operation for appendicitis
performed a few weeks ago in
the London Hospital.
Mr. F C Kalbfleisch is busily
engaged having his acerage of
flax pulled which is mostly being
done by Indians.
Mr. and Mrs. Kippen have
moved into the house opposite the
R,C church.• Mr. Kippen has
been engaged as a mechanic at
Rose's new garage.
Mr. and Mrs. C L. Smith and
daughter Mae, and Mr. D. Smith
were Sunday visitors with friends
at Arkona.

Detroit on. Sunday attending a
professional baseball game.
Dorothy Olive O"Brien and
Kenneth Weber were united in
marriage in the Evangelical Churcl

Ferd llaberer and Arthur Aulerich
enjoyed a fishing trip over the
weekend at Croaker Bay, where
there is excellent trout fishing.
Mr. Ray Schilbe, who is in the
Rayal Canadian Navt, was a vis-
itor last week with his parents
here in Zurich.
Fred Bess has resumed his stud-
ies after holidaying with his par-
ents in Zurich.
Mr. and Mrs, Ernest Gemming
left by plane for Fresno, Califor-
nia last week.

Mr. H. Neeb has the misfort-
une to fall and fracture a bone
in his arm.
Miss Arlene Haberer has return-
ed after spending the summer at
Grand Bend.
Mr. and Mrs. Milford Schilbe
spent several days in Kitchener
and Buffalo last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Gingerich
and family have returned from a
holiday spent at Chesley Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas O'Brien ,
bridal couple have returned from
their trip to Eastern Canada and
the United States.
Mr. Morris Weber is a patient
at St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
where he had an operation per-
formed on Monday.
Dr. and Mrs. Bruce Eickmeier,
of Exeter, were callers in town
Saturday evening.
Albert Kalbfleisch and Louis
Thiel, were on a business trip to
Paisley on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Mellick, of
town accompanied by the former's
sister, Mrs, M, Hudson, of Sea -
forth, were on a motor trip to
Michigan over this past weekend.

The Zurich Bowling Lanes,
owned and operated by Mr. and
Mrs. Ernie Laidlaw, will soon be
open for bowling, according to
the proprietors, who had hoped to
have their grand opening over the
Labor Day weekend.
Requiem High Mass was sung at
St. Boniface Roman Catholic
Church, Zurich, on Wednesday
morning at 10'a. m. for Mrs. Jame;
Masse, the mother of Canada's
largest family. She died suddenly
at her home inZurichon Sunday
afternoon, `Atigt.st 21.

for a family reunion on Saturday
at the home of Mr, and Mrs.
Lloyd Etue, on the Bluewater

Mr. and Mrs, Henry Eickmier
spent a few days last week with
their son and daughter-in-law,
Dr. and Mrs. Bruce Eickmier, at
Burlington.
Miss Gloria Deitz, of London,
was a weekend visitor at the home
of her parents, Mr, and Mrs,
Milton Deitz,
Miss Inez Y ungblut is spending
a few days camping with friends
near Orillia.

Obituary
E. PERCIVAL WESTON
E. Percival Weston, Bayfield,
died in Clinton Public Hospital,
on. August 11, 1970 of a heart
condition. He was 84 years old.
He was born January 26,1886
in Goderich Township, the son
of the late Mary and Harry
Weston. A carpenter, he was a
life-long resident of Bayfield and
area.
He married Mary A. Kipper
in Bayfield on April 6,1927. She
survives him. He was a member
of Trinity Anglican Church,
Bayfield. Surviving besides his
wife are five nieces and six
nephews.
Funeral services took place
from Trinity Anglican Church
with funeral arrangements by
the Beattie Funeral Home,
Clinton. Rev. E. J. B. Harrison
officiated with interment in
Bayfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack
Sturgeon, Fred Weston, Walter
Westlake, Arnold Makins, John
Lindsay and Bill Parker.
Less Elliott, Larry Kipper and
P. H. DaBoulay were
flowerbearers.

first place
Last Thursday the Brucefield
Bombers defeated Shakespeare
'in Brucefield by a score of 9-8 to
capture first place in W.O.A.A.
Intermediate Ladies Softball.
The Brucefield girls defeated
Mitchell on Monday night by
22-4 in the first game of a best
three out of five semi-final
series.
